I also would prefer he stayed, but I am of the opposite opinion. The longer it drags the less chance we have of keeping him. He knows what Adelaide offers, players against etc, but still no word. If he wanted here, then it will be a simple decision "Would I get a fair go at Adelaide?". However I feel he may be playing us off against others, so that says to me his heart is not here.

Hope I'm wrong.

As I have posted before I don't think Perrie has any plan to retire, and I think the club are intending to keep him on the list. It was the AFC that ruled him out of the SANFL finals which seems to suggest they want him cherry ripe for next year, however it will all be revealed in coming weeks.

Sorry, it was the North Adelaide footy club that decided they wanted a more youthful approach and Perrie stated that if an injury were to arrise he would fill in.

Can't argue with your logic there WW.

He has had a ton of time to think it over in reality, and should have been able to decide one way or the other by now.

Personally I disgree with those that say straight out that he will go past Griffin and Maric next year.

He could and maybe should, but he won't unless he significantly increases his intensity.

To me up until now he's played as if it's his right to be out there rather than an honour and an obligation.

If I were him I would seek to be traded to a club where he is virtually guaranteed a game - unless he really intends to pull his finger out next year.

For what it's worth, I'm expecting Griffin to bulk up over summer and be the big improver in ruck next year.

He's a very talented player IMO.
3 years and waiting...

We hear this every year. He's bulked up very insifnicantly during his time with the AFC.

Hes also said that until recently he has still been growing so he has found it hard to bulk up. Assuming he has stopped growing now he should be able to get his weight up over summer.

Drummond, you're always pumping up Meesen's tyres on very little.

However, our rookie listed Griffin has already achieved far more than draft pick #8 Meesen in 3 years - in spite of one not yet having the body, and the non-performer having it.

Bookmark this - Griffin will develop into a very good ruckman IMO as he fills out. Remember Dean Cox when he first started?? That's what Griff reminds me of.

Be my guest and stick it up me if it doesn't happen. :)

As for Meesen, he's still an enigma in my books. He must have talent - everyone says he has and we see small glimpses of it.

We're just not going to really see it if he doesn't want it bad enough and increase his intensity - whover he might be going to play for.

we should be able to find out. someone must have contacts out in bigfooty land..

Do we take the silence to mean that Meesen is going??

There are only 2 possibilities at this stage. Either Meesen still hasn't made his mind up (which would mean that he is still trying to wangle a deal with a different club IMO) or he has informed the club of his decision.

If the latter applies, the club hasn't announced it, which could only mean he is going, because clubs are very quick to announce positive news and far more reluctant to announce anything negative.

I agree with those that say that the longer that it takes, the more likely Meesen will be gone.

Perhaps it has been decided that if a suitable trade can be found for Meeson, or is required as part of one, he will go back to melbourne, if not though, he will stay, similar with what was meant to happen with skipworth last year, although he ended up being let go anyway.

I tend to agree with you, I think the reality is that Perrie has been told that most probably he wont be on the Crows list next year. He has often said that he has no problem giving the game away, I would assume that he has taken the approach considering that Adelaide are delisting him that it's not worth the effort to play for North and will then just consider retiring next year.

The only reason I see Perrie staying is as a mature back up forward for if one of Gill Welsh or Hentschell get injured and Tippet/Sellar arn't quite ready to step up, but would probably spend the majority if not all of the year in the SANFL, so may just move back to WA where he can surf and look after his successful business ventures.

He has access to the best nutrionalists/fitness/weights coaches possible one would assume. It is not as hard as it seems to bulk up if you are committed to sticking to a set diet regardless if you are growing or not.

With 'access to the best nutrionalists/fitness/weights coaches possible one would assume' that he would know whether its hard to bulk up while growing or not better than us. Your body puts all its resources into growing height wise rather than building muscle.

All trading decisions are getting stuffed up because of Judd. Potential destination-clubs like Collingwood and Carlton can't commit to a player like Meesen in case Judd nominates them as his preferred option.

I understand Judd is having surgery around now, but really this whole scenario is a joke. How long does it take to make a decision? It's not like he's deciding to send more troops to Iraq or something...

Griffen has bulked a fair bit 10-13 kg I believe and grown 4cm since being at the club, he'll get there but bulking up for some is harder than others. As much as they tried with the likes of Benny Hart, Basset and Stevens, some blokes just arn't made to, Griff is getting there, just taking a while.

id be happy to part with sarge schulz for meeson, we're taking a punt as he's achieved $%^$# all at senior level whereas sarge has at least proved he can play albeit erratic...Id say it will be the best offer you're likely to get:thumbsu:

ummm... nomination for dumb post of today?

I think you've got a real shot at it. if not, keep living the dream, and someday (soon) it will be yours.
