No problems for the big fella, he is right to go this week.

COLLINGWOOD’S Josh Fraser looks set to have to wait at least another week for his 200th AFL match after fellow ruckman Darren Jolly declared himself fit to play this weekend.

Jolly was seen icing his leg after coming off late in Friday night’s win over Essendon, prompting suggestions that he may be rested for Saturday night’s clash with Adelaide, but he said on Wednesday he would be fit to face the Crows.

“It’s going really good. I’ll be right to play this week. It was just a little minor knock on the shin so it was fine,” he said.

I say that's;

:D:D

He still might not play though, MM might gift Josh his 200th.
With all of Adelaide's problems, I wouldn't care if Jolly is rested this week, it's just it's a massive positive that Jolly has no "real injury" and could play this week.:thumbsu:

Still a chance for Fraser to come in and Jolly to be rested, actually I'm quite certain.

Although MM has said that Fraser will definitely play his 200th I don't think he gives a stuff whether he delivers that "promise" or not.

But with the finals ahead, I reckon MM will rest Jolly just to be on the safe side and in the VFL report, it said Fraser was in the BOG.

I really don't see why not, it'll be a good chance to see how Fraser pulls up in the 1's.

In fact, I'm going to go as far as saying that it's the perfect move.

IMO they'll play Jolly and Fraser and leave out Nathan Brown.

Compulsory rests this week should be Jolly and Didak, then Pendles and Thomas the following week.

No no no no no. I dont believe in resting players the week before a massive final. As MM says, it takes a while getting used to the pace and intensity of AFL football. To rest key players in round 22 would be stupidity and will not happen.

I wouldnt rest our guns like didak, pendlebury, thomas. Id consider giving Sidebottom a rest this week but thats about it. Jolly has proven his reliability over the past 7-8 years hence no need to rest him. Continuity and momentum play a big part in footy and I dont want to see us rest a plethora of players in the next 2 weeks.

This. Resting players in round 22 is just stupid, if we win the QF final then they ALL get a week off anyway. This is the last chance to rest anyone in the best 22 if they are sore and need it. They all seem to be in good nick at the moment so it's not a worry, like last year where form clearly started dipping at this point because of all the accumulated injuries.

Jolly doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who will take a week off just for the sake of it, if he's right he'll play for sure.

3 more wins then everyone gets a compulsory rest.:D (For one week).:)

That's how we should be approaching it, basically putting all our eggs into the "winning the first final" basket.

Round 22, 2002 we rested Rocca, Didak, Burns and Clement (Buckley injured) against the Dogs the week Terry Wallace quit and got thumped. Came out next week and all these players played defining matches and got us the win against Port. Week off, then we beat Adelaide in a prelim, and then nearly win a flag the following week.

So it can work.

I dont think you can safely assume that it can work. Footy is ALOT different in the current day with how fast the game is becoming. It takes weeks to get used to it after a layoff, just ask Paul Medhurst.

Additionally, back in 2002 there was nowhere near the amount of zones, presses, structures etc. It is critically important to get these setups in tip-top shape before our first final. This is why I want Reid back in, to get him back in to our defensive setup as he is vital to us.

I could be wrong, but this is how i feel.

I reckon malty may rest a few this week.

It is possibly important not to rest many players next week laeding into finals.

Look if we win this week we are guaranteed top spot.
Next week against the hawks won't alter things at all i reckon so both sides have nothing to gain it may be a low intensity game.

So this gives the players a low intensity game leading in to finals, plus it allows the players to keep their intensity up for the first week of finals.

Players like fraser, medhurst may play either this week or next and if we finish top we play the bulldogs first week. The Big plus is that if we baet the bullies we are staright into a prelim final and every one gets a werek off to recuperate.

Agreed. I think our side should be settled by round 22 with any changes being needed only. If they are 50 50 to play someone possibly leave them out but not just for a rest.
