All these criticism of Cleve and Tambling but where is the bagging of Jordy. He was supposed to be a ready made player but hes kicking is down and he's soft as butter. We've given up pick 19 for him and he doesn't seem to respect the jumper.

I feel sick whenever I see his name mentioned to be honest...nothing against him personally but moreso against the powers that be, Wallace, Miller, etc.....to think we gave up such an early pick (in a rebuilding team) to get a player of Jordy's ilk...staggering...might as well play Tivendale in the firsts...I actually think he adds more value than McMahon, and I'm no Tivva fan...

Can you put Jordy in the guts? Nope
Can you play Jordy in an accountable defensive role? Nope
Is he a goal kicking flanker? Nope
Does he add a big body to our already bean pole backline? Laughable!
Does he hit the chest of leading players with most of his posessions, like he's supposed to? Nope

I know it's early days but at the end of the day, he's 24, he was nothing special at the doggies and actually became a liability there and IMO, won't be long before he becomes a liability for us - at the expense of a Selwood, Pears, etc....time will tell....

I think Jordy is a fair player. He's got skill, and most of the team dont.

Nothing against Jordy, willing to support him and all, but still why did we recruit a skinny outside flanker. Its the opposite to what we need. The other rotating midfielders can play on the flanks.

We should look at players and say

"Can this player hold his own in the Grand Final?"

The answer in relation to Jordan McMahon is "____ no."

We shouldn't have recruited him. He'll get smashed in 1 on 1 footy, which is pretty much all finals footy.

Newman's able to go in the midfield and man up on a forward in a defending role though. We don't really have anyone else like Jordy in our team.

The next 6 weeks will decide where McMahon sits in terms of the whipping boys at Richmond, if he stands up in those 6 games when the chips are down he wins my support, however if he is one of the first to go missing then its open season on the boy. Can excuse young kids coming through for having quiet games but not a player with 120 odd games of experience behind him, especially one which cost a bit to get. For that reason alone he needs to repay the faith and damn quickly.

i'm with RT

needs to pull his finger out before the season is half out, otherwise will cop a frightful caning from many of the tiger faithful (and deservedly so)...

The coaching staff did well to get him. Although never my favourite player he was the best player on the open market that has played around 100 games. The coaching staff knew too well we need depth and he will supply that.

When he gets omitted because Mcguane is fit he'll become and emergency but probably get a run on the wing or the half forward flank because some one else is injured.

He can play all over the park we just need to let him settle in learn the game plan maybe spend a week or 2 at Coburg and then get back to his premium 2006 form.

Pick 19 is a high price to pay for an experienced fringe player TigerTroy...

Anyone know who went for pick 19? McMahon rates alongside Kingsley, Houlihan, That CHF/FF type player who came from Bris (Edwards i think?), Blumfield, Patrick Bowden and all the other pathetic recruits by Greg Miller and co.
Jordan McMahon adds NOTHING to our team that we already didnt have eg skinny bodies, poor decision making and skills under pressure, and being soft!
ATM i would employ Kevin Sheedy as our recruiting manager and im no Sheeds fan!

Well said RT. :thumbsu:

McMahon will add plenty to the side but it seems it will only come when the side start being a success, look at his best year with the Dogs and it is not surprising to find it was back in 06 when the Dogs were flying. When we get up and running be it later this year or sometime next year you'll most likely find yourself raving about him and the way he plays, but as I mentioned last night while we are still struggling he seems to be one of the first ones that goes quiet. I also mentioned last night we have massive games against the Pies, Freo, Dogs(expecting a huge one from him that day), Hawks and Saints in the next 5 weeks if he does not show something in those 5 weeks then he replaces Tivendale as the whipping boy as far as I'm concerned.

Jordy is just a luxury player, the side needs a hard ball getter, not a downhiller. its just another case of putting the roof on first before they build the walls.

When we traded for this bloke my gut feeling was this was a mistake.
i have a good mate who is a very fair minded Bulldogs supporter and his comment - damp squib.

I looked up his numbers and he'd racked up 2 top 10 B&F finishes at the Bullies.

So it was not compelling either way.

After 2 rounds he has had 8 qtrs of footy - 2 good qtrs and 6 pathetic. His game on Sunday was nothing short of disgraceful.

He needs to improve very quickly or this is one trade that will see Miller and Wallace wiping yolk from their eye.

I can forgive getting draft picks wrong - it is a hit and miss thing despite the science involved these days.
Trading for 24 year olds - especially when you are giving up top 20 picks - is only done because you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING.

I don't like this.
