Like the fact he played well in a big game. Did that against Hawks earlier in the year as well.

Hope he makes decent progress over next season and we may have at last a new strong bodied inside mid to help out Selwood in the years to come.

Really like the cadinator-him and GHs -future captain material-he looks like a leader to me -look how far he has come this year.

Obviously I'm a fan, you guys know that but geez I thought he was a MASSIVE reason for our 3rd quarter.
He has all the tools to be a super star, theres no doubting that.
Once we get a full pre-season into him (never done one previous to coming to the Cats but didn't he come to us injured?) and a full endurance tank watch out!
His goal kicking awareness is some of the best I've seen in a kid his age, last nights goal, round 15 goal, round 2 v North goal...
Is he our next Jimmy "Clutchy Mc Clutch goal" Bartel?

I would like us to get another couple of mids like him as our midfield is not what it once was.

I actually think out midfield is fairly well placed PO. If we can move GHS in there, we will have Selwood, Caddy, GHS and Bundy to win the inside ball, then Motlop and hopefully eventually Guthrie and Murdoch to provide the outside run.

Obviously you always want more depth in there but that's a good young base to work from. They all need to start getting serious time in there though which means that Kelly and Corey would need lesser roles, if they keep playing.

I agree with you except Guthrie.
He is far to valuable as a defender to put him in the midfield.
Selwood, Caddy and GHS as inside mids, Bundy, Duncan, Motlop and Murdoch in time the outside (I consider Bundy an outsider due to his explosiveness, I know he wins the hard ball but I reckon he is better with some space around him and room to run).

There's got to be a fair chance that 2 of Eardley, Bews, Thurlow will end up in the back line.
That's going to release Guthrie.

Actually I love Murdochs hard work, size, speed, and deadly kicking. He could play there too.

Thurlow I reckon will become a winger, Eardley could be anything really, I can see an inside mid in him, also a burrowing forward or back.
Bews would be the one but I still love Guthrie in the backline, we need another small backman so I reckon we could fit both easily.
Guthrie replaces Enright then we need someone to replace Hunt (ugh).
I'm not sure Murdoch has that defensive edge required but I could be wrong, I thought the same about Wojo...

In years to come Thurlow, Guthrie and Bews could be an excellent part of our new backline. They have a bit of pace and a bit of size - and all seem quite good kick of the footy. Great attributes.

Then we have Harry as a KPB - we just need another KPB. Not sure who that will be.

Maybe as the third tall Brown will make it ?

That would mean we have the makings of another excellent backline.

I know there are a few Eardley fans out there who reckon he will compliment these guys but just need another year to see how he goes before I am as certain as the you fans.

I thought the same about Guthrie until the last half of the year. I think he has some dynamic attributes which will be very important to our midfield. He is much quicker than Enright and midfield speed will be very important going forward to balance the grunt (and lack of pace) of GHS and Caddy.
I think he shows all the signs of becoming an outstanding midfielder but it depends if we can find another midfield gem as To whether he is needed there or not.

I don't think Caddy is slow but not quick either. Is Guthrie quick ??? Would not have thought so. Will rely on Bundy for speed I think in the midfield.

No issue in trying out Guthrie as a mid - starting as a tagger. But it depends on whether Enright will be around next season and if Thurlow can make enough progress to come into the senior side and replace Guthrie. Must keep a strong backline.

Guthrie is very quick. Would have Bundy covered for speed I would think.

Guthrie has toe for sure.
I remember at the time of his drafting his the recruiting staff spruiked his versatility; I have no doubt he could contribute in the midfield or even up forward if required, but I'm with Catatonic Shock, I really like him as a defender.
As others have pointed out, Thurlow and Bews coming through may give us flexibility with regards to defensive/midfield rotations. That'd be good !

Caddy's bull-at-a-gate style has the potential to yield some inspiring results; he's not scared to get amongst it and use his body as a battering ram, and he *is* pretty quick once he's got a break; he's certainly not slow. Handy in a marking contest too. Lots of potential, lot's of scope for improvement.

What if Guthrie is commensurately good as a midfielder? It has to be tried.

I've been dead set in the Caddy camp since I first heard he was keen to head back to Vic, but Friday's effort certainly exceeded my expectations of him in his first year. I expected a few 20+ possession, two goal games for him this year (similar to his performances whilst at GC), but I didn't expect him to impact a big final like he did. Trading for him was always about 2014 and beyond.

Definite 200 gamer on Friday's form...

Thing to note too is that Cads has just done one preseason at Geelong. After 2 80% preseasons at GC, one injury interrupted, he needs to develop his tank more and has the ability to do so. He will get better and as he gets more endurance you will find that the poor disposal due to fatigue will improve too...

Go Catters

I spoke to a guy at work today for the first time since Friday night and he has never been a Caddy fan (unlike myself of course) and the first thing he said to me today "Caddy was the reason we got to 20 points up at 3/4 time, he's going to be a damn JET!".
Says it all really, guy is winning over supporters who were never in his camp to begin with.

We have finally found a small/medium lock down backman that can also break the lines with precise disposal and run and people want to move him up the ground.
Thought premierships where won on the back of strong defence.
You only need to look at Enright to see how valuable that is.
Thurlow and Bews will be developed next year as Guthrie was.
We will draft a midfielder not a HBF. I'm with Catatonic Shock on this.

At least in my own case it's because I suspect they will try it, because a) they hinted as such a while ago, and b) he played midfield as a junior. As Catatonic Shock said, if it's a case of robbing peter to pay paul, no point moving him up the ground. If, however, he is commensurately as good in the middle as in defence, I personally would rather him in the guts, and try to develop Thurlow and a few others in the backline.
