Apparently he wants to return to Melbourne and Essendon cannot satisfy GC with their draft pick selections...

I think we should offer them the better compo pick AND either a later pick in this years draft or a player

Could be a replacement for scully in a way...

Thoughts?

Warnock wants to go to the Gold Coast... I doubt he'd get us over the line for Caddy unless we offered the compo pick and a later pick - if we give away the compo pick we're getting a 10 year + player regardless. Not much to lose here. It's worth a go.

Well picked up Deefence. This is a really good idea and we definitely have the picks to get something done. Wouldn't this just top of the trade week for us?:)

Will be a very good player but doesn't sound as though the club has an interest in him.

Might be a case of not wanting too many of the same type of mid, especially with Viney to come. But for Caddy I think we'd need to offer something that adds up to a top 10 pick, as he was pick 7 last year. So a compo pick + something reasonable. Definitely a good player though, and worth offering something at least if it comes down to him desperately wanting to return to Melbourne and Essendon not improving their offer.

Would love him, but i think it'd cost us both compo picks to get it done.

Caddy will be a gun. Question i guess is do we think Caddy = $cully?

Why do you say that?

Clark was obviously their priority, now that it's over I can't see why they wouldn't be interested in someone like josh caddy...we definitely have the pics to get him...and if Josh's dad is his priority i'm sure he'll be willing to move to any Melbourne based club...

Definitely another consideration that has to come into account. With Viney coming in in 2013, do we need Caddy? Where do the other midfielders fit in and how does he keep his spot?

It'll be interesting to see if we definitely make a play for him, and see how it pans out.

We haven't heard, from any source at all throughout this week, that we have any interest in Caddy. We have been interested in a variety of players and we knew about it. I'm not saying for certain that we aren't interested, but just because we have the picks doesn't mean we will chase him. I wouldn't be disappointed if we were interested, I just don't think we are.

Who knows... Neeld may see a few people coming out on contract next year that he wants to chase with those picks.

That's where Goddard comes in... I very much doubt St Kilda will want to even think about off loading him though, even if St Kilda want two-three first rounders.

Our 2nd compo pick + Pick 36 + Pick 39 (Matty Bate) + Warnock if need be.

2 no longer want to be at the club, our compo plus our second rounder for Caddy and a late pick (we need to draft a certain number of players every year).

Then come next year, bring in Viney + either a tall or classy mid. Simple :D

I think our midfield need 2 all class midfielders

I dont know enough about Caddy to suggest he can be one of them tbh

Pick 7 only playing 2 games last year, why?

He had injuries last season. Being a northern suburbs boy (Caddy is from Eltham) I can say that Caddy is a gun footballer.

Watch his TAC cup footage and his game v Hawthorn. Very good player.

Is a bit like a Ziebell/Sylvia mix with pace.

Warnock + 1 compo pick would be all I would offer if it was me making the call for the Dees.

I just hope for his sake he does get a trade back to Victoria, and that GC are willing to give him up if he wants to come back, given the circumstances.

Speculation on Demonland that MFC is a serious bidder for Caddy and the race for him is down to two clubs, us and the Bummers.

Don't know much about Caddy so will rely upon feedback from you guys. We can trump anything the Bummers have to offer. It sounds like we might be able to make this happen...

Right, Caddy is generally a midfielder, he can win clearances, and he's a good contested mark (so he's got a combination of Moloney/Trengove about him). He's pretty aggressive so he can give us some mongrel in the middle.

He can play forward too.

Cheers. :thumbsu:

Keeping in mind we'd have to give up a bit to get him, (GC want two compo picks for him at this stage) would you make a play for him??

Sammy of Hawthorn says: Update on Caddy please pickers?

Paul Pickering says: No news on either front unfortunately, boys. Cam, every Melbourne club has denied inquiring about Fevola, yet his management are assuring us that there is interest. The rookie draft is his only chance. Sammy, all quiet on Caddy today. Looks like Bombers and Dees in the box seat.

1251: Rob of Australia says: Any news on any late trade rumours for the Blues would they try and trump essendon and maybe send lucas and bower to gold coast for Josh Caddy and maybe a trade pick.

Paul Pickering says: I'm hearing that Melbourne are the other major bidder for Caddy. Carlton have to be patient with Kane Lucas.

If we can swing a deal along the lines of 'after our first round pick' compo + Warnock I would be a big fan of the move. Don't want us to overpay though.

Warnock won't swing any deal. If Caddy is a genuine gun, I'd be prepared to trade our first compo pick + Rohan Bail. I'm a fan of Bail, but if it can get us a genuine gun inside mid, I'd do the trade.

Well our 2 compo picks next year will be around the 10-15 mark.

I think one of them for Caddy would get the deal done. Probably the middle of first round pick (likely to be 11). The Suns would be doing the right thing by Caddy and also getting a fresh crack at it next year in a superdraft.

Whether or not we're actually keen on a deal remains to be seen. I hope Paul Pickering is on the money, if we can land a young midfield star for 2012 (replacing $cully) we'll be all set for a good year.
