Only a minor thing, but after Josh mentioned how supported he feels with the coaches around him, he mentioned a recent chat with Matty Primus who was only 35 when he got the Senior Job and had very little support around him. I am certainly not saying Primus would have gone on to be a multi premiership coach but Primus has often been the butt of many a joke about his coaching tenure at Port and he never really had a chance.

Was unaware he was 35 when we appointed him

What a next level **** up all round.

Totally agree Sheeds. I can tell you 100% that Matty's coaching has never been the butt of any jokes coming from me. He was dealt a sh*t sandwich and was forced to eat it whilst maintaining grace, showing true sportsmanship and love for the club. On top of that, he had to deal with Cornes x 2. Loved that Ditts said "I see you've let yourself go". Still such a spunk ;)

Primus is and probably will be the only sacked coach I had a lot of sadness for. That walk through the rooms by himself when he knew it was over, horrendous. It was not application, dedication or passion that was his downfall, and so many things were against him that it was never going to be a success for him and yet he stuck his neck out and he did it. Effectively ending his coaching career by doing so - he did return to GC or something like that if I recall, but that was relatively short lived as well.

He’s doing pretty well at South Port. He has clearly developed himself since those dark days. Very happy to see the club induct him into the Hall of Fame the other night.

Primus was set up to fail by a useless football club that took the easy option of promoting within without being stuffed to look outside because saving money was there main aim.
He was given zero resources and it ended the only way it was going to end in disaster.

Truly a legend footballer amongst the greatest ruckman ever having his last years at the club he loved being tarnished by at board incapable of running a pub chook raffle

Part of the blame the was the Leigh Whicker SANFL boys club trying to suck us dry.

All because we won an AFL grand final.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I kind of like having a coach who sounds footy literate.
In a very nice, intelligent and diplomatic way, Carr has changed the narrative on the word rebuild that had been corrupted by Koch to mean we won't be in the bottom 4 ever like it is some kind of acheivement.

To say that the Lions who are looking at history in the face of threepeating this year and say they should be rebuilding shows you that Carr is massively interested at constant improvement even when you are on top of the heap. That kind of attitude goes a very long way to winning premierships and shows that we are not only in good hands but he is looking to set up a winning dynasty at Port.

Out of everything over the preseason, the juicy nuggets that Carr has provided and that the coaching staff have also expressed have been nothing short of the Creed.

Get excited. Get very excited.

All we need is Koch and the board not to get in the way.
