I would extremely doubt Dumont would be pushed out. More so taking Swallow's spot.

is it feasible that GWS could announce mid -season that he is going to leave? Prevent speculation for the rest of the year and potentially on the eve of a premiership tilt

IF he decides to leave for a Victorian based club- then sure, I wouldn't be against announcing it. I have no doubt his commitment would be with us until the very last game of the season.

If he hasn't signed by finals it will be pretty bloody obvious that he's going.

It isn't, the AFL wont permit clubs or players to announce trades mid season. Resigning will be announced as soon as it happens. If there's nothing by our last match, then yes expect an announcement by Kelly of his preference, presumably for North

They wouldn't announce a trade but he can announce he's leaving.

Davis (IIRC - might have been Bock) announced they were leaving Adelaide a few weeks before the end of the year to address speculation and got benched as a result. Nothing wrong with doing so, other than what the club might do.

I don't see any reason why he needs to announce what he's doing before the end of the season. We will know if he hasn't signed before the finals series that he is gone, there is no need to announce it to the world. He would know, the club would know and the players would no, I just think it opens up a can of worms.

Happened with Henderson and Carlton as well. He told the club he was leaving, we in turn didn't play him.

Correct, if all the others (or most of the others) are signing around him you can take it to the bank he's gone. We haven't had too many post season re-signings.

If we're gonna be fair there is a significant difference between a premiership favourite playing one of their best mids and Adelaide and Carlton of the day not naming Bock and Henderson.
