There's no argument here. If you believe you have 3 million dollars spare then so be it. I just find it mathematically impossible.

Over 2 years you easily would have that. You front and back load a bunch of payments and offer $4 million over 3 years with heavy front end loading.

Thing is, at least half a dozen clubs have big warchests: Freo, Hawks, Saints, Roos, Blues (assuming Gibbs goes at the end of this year), Swans (if they finally end the Tippett contract).

Im sure others do too.

Clubs will be deciding if they want to go for 1 big player on a massive contract or 2 big players on big contracts. Hawks Im really hoping go for 2. A midfielder and a defender. I dont think a single player gets us back to Finals.

Their big problem is that Buddy's contract is reportedly back-ended and heading up to $1.5 mil PA and Tippett triggered a clause that got him extended to the end of 2018. Which club is going to want to take that salary off Sydney's hands?

Heeney would have cost them a pretty penny and now they have Reid and Jones who are OOC and would have plenty of clubs circling.

The article on the AFL website at the time it happened said that Tippett's now contracted to the end of 2018, having triggered a contract for another two years.

Reid was indeed meant to be on good money, but it will all depend on whether his contract was front-ended, or what. I doubt he sticks around for less money if other clubs are offering him plenty. Just like Tom Mitchell didn't.

Anyway, my understanding is that they're in salary cap strife, so we'll see what happens.
