CFC is a more attractive destination now, brand is being refreshed.
An iconic team with a proud and prominent historical importance , loaded with high draft picks and plenty of cash to splash, a good destination as any, one would think , elite talent will come to CFC I'm confident.
As usual Carlton supporters your dreaming
The world does not revolve around you guys ( even with all the help Fitzpatrick dished out for them )
( i used to hat Collinwood, now its Carlton , after the last time we played the saints):thumbsdown:

cannot see why Kelly or matter of fact Martin going to north or carlton when both of their teams will be playing finals for the next few years
Winning the big one is whats it about, both will be retired long before north/ carlton play in the grand final
look at the saints and richmond , we have build over the last 5 years, and we are attractive to the stars now
definitely a smoke screen from North hierarchy to deflect there poor performances .

with all due respect I think you are making shit up as you go along.

No obviously you didn't read what I had before, Blues give up more; lll put down what each time Gains and loses as it's a lot of picks involved;

CROWS RECIEVE;

Bryce Gibbs

Blues 2017 3rd Rd Pick (upgrade) [est 40]
Blues 2017 4th Rd Pick (upgrade) [est 60]

Blues 2018 2nd Rd Pick (upgrade) [est 20]
Blues 2018 3rd Rd Pick (upgrade) [est 40]
Blues 2018 4th Rd Pick (upgrade) [est 60]

GIANTS RECIEVE;

Blues 2017 First Rd Pick [estimate top 3 pick]
Adelaide 2018 First Rd Pick [est late teen pick]

BLUES RECIEVE;

Josh Kelly

Adelaide 2017 1st Rd Pick [est late teen pick]
Adelaide 2017 3rd Rd Pick (downgrade) [60]
Adelaide 2017 4th Rd Pick (downgrade) [80]

Adelaide 2018 2nd Rd Pick (downgrade) [40]
Adelaide 2018 3rd Rd Pick (downgrade) [60]
Adelaide 2018 4th Rd Pick (downgrade) [80]

GWS 2018 2nd Round Pick [est 40]

From above proposal

Blues gain still a late teen pick & get Josh Kelly
Blues downgrade big time on 5 picks included future second round. But as mentioned many times we have 4 father sons in next 2 drafts so both downgrades won't hurt
2017 Liam Hickmott son of Adrien
2018 Ben Silvagni son of Stephen
2018 Will Hickmott son of Adrien
2018 Oskar Manton son of Glenn

Crows lose 2 First round picks.
Crows gain Bryce Gibbs who is still contracted two years so need pay slight overs. Crows gain big time on upgrades 5 picks of 20 spot gains. If Crows get a late teen first round and Blues finish close to bottom not much of a downgrade is it for 2018 draft.

GWS lose Josh Kelly former pick 2 and would give up late pick in 40's but would get a future top 2-4 pick back and an early second round in the 20's. They would get what they paid in the draft back.
I don't think people are smart enough to break that down.
Maybe just show the Carlton Adelaide trade then the Carlton GWS so they can understand

I understand what you're saying, I'm simply strongly denying its legitimacy as unless you are literally joint at the hip to Paul Connors or are actually Paul Connors, there is no way that you could know for a fact that he is only talking to North. Stop trying to sound like a legitimate source breaking news or whatever with this 'my understanding is' crap, you don't know. You simply cannot know what you're claiming to.

Well, I'm very very confident in what my multiple sources have told me.

And I'm not pretending to be a news breaker footy journo.

Can elite talent smell what Carlton is cooking?

Plenty of ex GWS teammates at Carlton for him to make it an easier transition.
A young, promising list, history, tradition, facilities, big games, business opportunities post career etc.
A lot of things north lack.
There are other considerations, not just a massive contract. If north sell the farm pick wise for Kelly, where does their improvement come from?
.

What if some of those things you mention are not important factors for Kelly? Indeed, what if some of them actively work against what Kelly wants?

Also, I find it interesting that Kelly/North history ... his Dad playing for us, him BFNAAK is discounted as a factor ... but that Carlton were good 70 years ago (history, tradition) is going to.

As regards our improvement, North have been very diligent in not trading out our first picks. Given we've been relatively successful for a while, we haven't had high first rounders, but we've hung onto what we had (even Anderson trade we got back by trading Basti)

We've blooded ten or so kids this year. Guys who had shown real ability previously but who were held back by injury or older guys taking their spots, have been getting extended runs like Taylor Garner and Trent Dumont.

There's a ton of organic natural improvement to come from our kids. Preuss and Simpkin another two in their first year who definitely have what it takes.

Given I don't see Dusty leaving - and even if he does we don't need to trade for him - if we don't get Kelly we take a very high pick to the draft.

I love the way that North lack "history" compared to Carlton. They are five years older than us ffs.

No way is Carlton trading two top 3 picks even for Kelly. Would have to include Hopper or some hefty change.

It'll be our 2017 1st (~2) and the pick we trade Gibbs for (~16). Which is fair.

Yep. That would be likely to appease GWS.

Carlton and Saints fans come in here to pot North, while Richmond come here to talk rationally.

You Saint fans are really becoming a cocky bunch.....for I have no idea why.

Clubs can turn things around very quickly. Look at Richmond for example. Sitting in the top 4 and many predicated bottom 4 or so finish. Even Fremantle are doing a lot better than expected and are not doom and gloom.

To be honest I have no idea why Saints fans are getting so excited. I see just as much promise in Lions and Carlton and see Saints being much of the same next year. Theyre going to have a year or two gap year IMHO......not trying to troll. Was thinking about it on the weekend. With Roo and possibly Motagna retiring and McCartin being a slow process....I dont see that much improvement....with what everyone's lists is at now disregarding any trades.

North have been very competitive barring a few games. Skills are deplorable. Also missing some players due to injury. Sam Wright and Macmillan are good users. Lots of kids in the side who are making errors, as have veterans. Get more clean ball users in the team and have a good forward line, a decent back line and improve the midfield with the best tagger in the comp (Jacobs), shift Jack Ziebell to forward and perhaps add some class in the midfield and automatically the team looks a lot more dynamic and dangerous. The backline then doesnt get bombarded. Tarrant if not there we would of been belted a lot more.

North arent doom and gloom like some people make out. Far from it. Just struggling due to lack of outside run & depth due to injuries. Things can turn around very quickly so stop trying to troll by trying to measure the size of your .... cause you had a win.

This is true. I think however history simply recrords the more iconic moments and players in history and those with a high represenatation than others in those areas are probably ranked higher in terms of their brand.

Again like many sides in year 1 of a rebuild you are completely under estimating how hard it is to rebuild a list these days

Every clubs supporters think the bounce back is quick. It's not.

Everyone here is smart enough to figure it out, it's just an insanely stupid deal.

Where did I claim North were going to? I didn't. My comment about turning things around quickly were separate. I was speaking in general. I am fully aware its also possible for a club to quickly go to crap too.

My comments about North were separate and parts of the reasons why North are where they are on the ladder. Its not doom and gloom for North.

People are either being simple minded, short sighted or both.....or simply just trolling as they dont like the club.

Why? The Gibbs trade seems fair and we would be paying a fair bit more for Kelly then Collingwood did for Treloar.
Because all of the upgrades are just there to disguise the fact that adelaide is giving up 2 first rounders for Gibbs. Which is ridiculous for a 29 year old.

Also doesn't include any recognition of possible improvement for carlton next season. Essentially you are asking Adelaide to gamble for a player, when a single first rounder should be enough.

As for Josh Kelly, there is no way in hell you'd get a second rounder back. 2 firsts will be the price.

That's because we probably won't improve. Adelaide's future first will only be a 1-4 pick down grade. Possibly 18 to 19. It's not hiding anything it's plain and simple. Yes it's asking Adelaide to gamble because they are the team wanting a contracted player and are aiming for a premiership. It's a very small gamble considering the stakes.

We won't even give up two firsts if he nominates us. It'll be something like pick 2 and 20 odd and if we can't get a pick around that it'll be our future second.

i feel like this is like the buddy franklin move.
Gws were suppose to make the offer for him to play there, then sydney suprisngly come in and take him.
Like north make a huge play, then a team like hawks come and swoop in, or maybe even melbourne come in and take him.

Hawthorn don't have the picks nor the trade currency necessary to get the deal done....Even if we wanted to.

My bet is that Kelly will be at North next year.
