He wasn't getting a game at GWS. Hence why he requested a tradeRubbish
He could have stayed if that was all he wanted

Are we any closer to getting more 'confident' reports on the offers to Kelly, Smith, Hopper & Kennedy from GWS and their respective opposition suitors?
I think at this stage of the season it's reasonable to assume all probably have other things to worry about, but managers will still be talking contracts. I just can't see a situation where GWS keep all 4 - surely the difference in offers will be too great for at least 1 to refuse (especially if it's a Geelong type team with Hopper, the success part isn't then a huge factor). GWS fans shed some light?
Very unlikely we can manage to keep all 4. All will have decent offers in front of them and will need to decide whats best for them.
The "go home factor" isnt really strong with any of them just yet. But good offers are hard to turn down aswell.
At best we only lose 1 i feel. At worst we could potentially lose all of them but i think that is very very unlikely.
I can see 2 of them departing it is just which combination and I think it will be after the last game that we hear what is going on as some of the players may still be thinking about offers on the table
and i agree with the theory that if the Giants win a flag (not likely after last nights performance) this year Kelly will leave or sign for 2 years to ry and win one
That will see new threads start up that he has a gentleman agree meant to sign for Club x at the end of that contract![]()
Only thing I know from our board is Hopper doesn't want to stay from a very reliable source. Devon Smith does but his new contract is for less, he was paid overs last time. Are we any closer to getting more 'confident' reports on the offers to Kelly, Smith, Hopper & Kennedy from GWS and their respective opposition suitors?

What's with all the salt, North fans?
Josh may very well be compelled to sign on again for two more years, but GWS will have a disgruntled player on their hands.
Sometimes when you're wrong you just need to man up and admit it.North won't get within 10 goals of the lions today friend making machine

Do you folks think he would be breaking his neck to get to Carlton if he was entrenched in the GWS side and looking down the barrell of a imminent premiership? I'm not the one with the delusional issues here.

You do realise that a club has absolutely no way to make a player re-sign, right?
They can tell them that they will never do a trade, and force them through the draft. You do realise that a club has absolutely no way to make a player re-sign, right?
Yet later you believe Kelly is going to be a 'disgruntled player' if GWS don't work out a trade with North lol entrenched in the side and imminent premiership but he's going to be disgruntled if he can't leave, while you can't believe the same would ever happen of Marchbank if he was playing regularly?
I'd take a guess Hopper would get a 300k or so offer from GWS (average salary is around 380k I believe, Hopper wouldn't be in your top half of players) so if Smith gets less/stays the same (more likely I reckon with the new TPP he'll just get a similar salary rather than an increase), gives you probably another 150k to play with with Kelly (accounting for some going to another player signing on, and Hoppers initial contract of a new draftee being subtracted from the 300k). Might be enough?

Except source is $650k was last Smith contract and new one around $500k. Recent form is down a bit but longer term he's been pretty valuable. Hopper don't know the offer. Leon has always rated him but his delivery hasn't been great, he's no spud but he is overrated on this board IMO.Yet later you believe Kelly is going to be a 'disgruntled player' if GWS don't work out a trade with North lol entrenched in the side and imminent premiership but he's going to be disgruntled if he can't leave, while you can't believe the same would ever happen of Marchbank if he was playing regularly?

Yes. Okay let me set my thoughts against information I have been told in relation to josh kelly. Josh does wish to return to victoria but he has only spoken to north and is only interested in playing for north. Forget about all the carlton and stkilda talk. He has not spoken to either of these clubs and he won't be speaking to either of these clubs. If josh nominates then it will only be north. North no longer have any psd leverage. GWS have already aired their dissatisfaction with trading with north, are understandably miffed at the thought of losing one of the absolute best young players in the competition, and will drive a very hard bargain at north. Matthews and co will catch on that josh is only interested in north and may drive a bargain so hard that north won't come to the party and they can force josh to re-sign for another two years, rather than end up at brisbane, gold coast or carlton.
My take is that josh would rather stay for two more years at GWS if a trade can't get done with north, and I think GWS will clue on to this and force its outcome. If a trade can get done then north may now have to part with the 2017 and 2018 1st round picks, or do a trade and pick swap with brisbane, which is actually feasible.
If it plays out in that fashion Josh can easily nominate for the ND - I predict none of Brisbane, Gold Coast or Carlton will use a top 3 pick on Josh if he doesn't want to be there. PSD is different as it's basically the last list spots to be used.
