I'd back Lyon in on this instance, might of not adhered to the structures or many other reasons that no one other than anyone inside the club has any idea about. You can even take a look at a couple players who most thought should have been getting a game in previous years- Broughton and Michie and see how the've faired lately to see that Ross more often than not knows how to manage who goes in and who goes out of the team.

Broughton is playing pretty well for gold coast this year, and Michie is injured. But your point is well made, perhaps a better example is Roberton, I thought he had the potential to be a very good player and he can't crack the saints 22 at present.

Robertson going backwards after such a promising start with the Sainters has been very surprising.

I haven't watched the Saints this year but that is gobsmacking. I just presumed he was in their side. Was one of their best players last year. Still, a new coach, a new year . . .

I could never understand the overrating of Dylan on here.
Only a mediocre footy player and now can't even crack a game in a potential bottom of the ladder side. He was immensely pushed up on this board.

I am certain Ross would have cut him, had he stayed here.

well I was one that loved him, still do. he has uncanny peripheral vision and a cool head which gives him great ability to negotiate traffic. Will get better and better with age and experience. I can see him playing 200 games becoming a wily old veteran defender.
But I could be wrong too ;)

Definitely a chance it could go either way.

Played some really strong footy for the Saints last year, Scotty loved him, looked like a steal. New coach and it has all changed, don't know if it was injury or for form based reasons.

Lyon has lost the battle but I'm going to back him to win the war with Josh. It is impossible to say if Josh would have made a difference in the last two games, but given the output of Mayne and Suban, one has to think that there is a good chance he would have. I'm a bit peeved at Mayne actually as he has passed a medical without being fit and its his inclusion that has lead to all this. With the F50 entries we had on the weekend, a firing and fit Mayne would have been able to hold the ball in, but he's been nowhere to be seen. If you'd have told me at the start of the year that by round 6 Mayne and Suban would be completely useless and that we would have a full board baying for Josh Simpsons, I wouldn't have believed you. Ross has backed senior players who have let him, themselves and the team down. This situation will pass, there's nothing to stop us from having a barnstorming end to the year and going by the evenness of the comp so far this year, it may be all we need.

just asked the question on the saint's board and someone mentioned he had ankle injury early on and has been finding form in the VFL. not sure how much you can make from it though

Race, culture etc aside. He is a player that has let the club down, we actually need him now walters is gone. The club needs to be blunt, "We need you right now, we need you to work but keep in mind there are still no guarantees of a spot in the 22". If a player gets offended by something like that all I can do is shake my head.

geez, if it means so much too you ... done ;)

ps. i still love him and he is definitely a champion of the club :rainbow:

Now, you see what happens when you reach my age and have seen genuine stars , you notice the little tricks players do to mask their deficiencies.
There is no point me going over it again because you have gone along with the populist view.
