In what way was taking Simpson at pick 17(?) a punt. The article from 2 years ago that was posted in here had him as a possible top 10 pick so it wasn't a surprise selection - the kid had talent, had spent 3 years at boarding school in Adelaide and if that interview was accurate he seemd quite determined to make it in the AFL. In many ways his background was similar to Cyril Rioli.

OK sure so far things haven't turned out the way he or the club would have hoped but that doesn't mean that drafting him was a punt by any stretch of the imagination. (The eagles drafting Weedon at 22 - now that was a punt)

My point on the 1% was to do with how the indigenous owners of the land which currently drives this nations economy were completely ignored and left to rot in camps all around the Pilbara, and still are.

If the tiniest portion of that money was used wisely from the beginning we may have had a different outcome to what we currently face.

Firstly, how can you say that he hasn't set the world on fire. He played half a game of footy against Essendon and there was flames all over this board. I'm stunned that you can't see that Josh has got serious talent. He has the potential to become a significant asset to our footy club.

Secondly, I can only assume that you've never worked in a management position, nor ever employed anyone? If you have, you must have had great difficulty getting people to perform for you with that attitude. And it must have been a nightmare retaining good (or any) staff.

Thankfully, FFC have taken a much more professional approach and are doing the best they can to get maximum output out of a very talented young footballer. As they are with every other player on our list.
