Well, it is 19 months on from his leaving. I will leave my personal feelings about his annonuncement out of this, because they will only serve to raise my blood pressure.

Of course we are not privy to anything that happens inside the club, but does it seem to anyone else on here that the club rolled over and let Judd rub its belly (so to speak) rather than pulling out every stop and making him the proverbial "offer he couldn't refuse"? I mean, everyone has their price, and somewhere there was enough of something that would have induced him to remain with us. Short of a bullet to Twigley's head, I mean.

Thoughts?

I doubt it would've worked.

He would've went into the PSD and we would've got nothing.

We should've asked more from Carlton if anything.

Chris who ? all he will be remembered for is the fact that as the current captain of our team he left for money and mummy.

John Brown didn't quit the Lions when it was obvious they were on the downhill curve, did we see Simon Black come home to WA when the going got tough? and even Pavlich stayed on after he realized it was a lost cause at the Dockers.

Chris you will for ever be remembered as a Merc.

To idiot supporters yes. Seriously if supporters are still going to be that bitter and at least not appreciate the efforts and performances he put into this club then you're pathetic.

We've recruited in players and got rid of players under similar circumstances to Judd. Just because they werent as high profile as him shouldnt lessen the argument.

He's one of the best players to have ever represented the West Coast Eagles, instead of remaining bitter of his departure, be content in the fact we had a player of such a calibre at our club who managed to lead us to a premiership and take about nearly every individual honour available to him while playing for us. We wouldnt have won another premiership after 06 anyway.

Would you expect this kind of reaction from Manchester United supporters if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves for Real Madrid finally? No.

Yep, I'm pathetic.

Judas didn't give a fig for WCE. He was worth a lot more than we got but used the PSD as a threat.
The least he should have said to Carlton was " I'll join you, but I'm worth two top 10 picks as a minimum, to be fair to WCE".
But he didn't, he just let us get screwed.
Cuz I will remember as a WCE great, Judd as a callous, greedy and self centred git.

Considering the club made no secret in the fact that they thought Trent Cotchin was the best talent in the upcoming draft and was not going to be around at pick 3 I dont know why they didn't accept Richmond's offer of picks 2 & 18 and refuse Judd the option to choose his home. They stated that they wanted the best outcome for both parties but it seemed they just did what Judd wanted. Unless they thought Josh Kennedy as the sweetener made Carlton's offer the better one, but why aren't they playing him!!!!!!

In retrospect...

Judd plays for Carlton.

Kennedy, Masten and Notte (I think?) play for the Eagles.

oh god.:p

Nah have to wait and see I guess.... If even 1 of those 3 guys turns out to be half decent then weve done ok.

*secretly want Juddy to play well at the Blues but dont want him to have any team success*

I may be incorrect here but didn't Judd have to agree to the trade as well? Otherwise he would refuse and go into the PSD?

Things would have been so much better for us if Carlton didn't have first pick in the PSD.

Yes, he did have to agree to the trade because he was out of contract.

Richmond had the first PSD pick but there was talk that he would price himself so that Richmond couldn't afford him through the PSD and Carlton would still take him with the second pick.

Immediately after he left, I was bitter, very angry, and considered him a traitorous, money chasing narcissistic prick, who had sold out the club and was not fit to have been captain. I sincerely hoped his career would end quickly, and was even at the point of wishing career ending injuries on him.

Nowadays... pretty much exactly the same.

Judd couldn't have had a say in what West Coast got for him. Why would he bargain a better deal against the club he's going to be playing with for the 7 or so years? Yes it's selfish but that's where I'm heading. Although the trade wasn't fair 'value' they never are when a player wants to go to one club. For what it's worth everyone besides Carlton supporters thinks it was a pretty shit effort to bail. See Nathan G. Brown from the Bulldogs to Richmond. Just a dog effort.

Oh ok, my mistake. I guess what I meant is that overall it would have been much better for us if he had just wanted to go back to any Victorian club and not specifically Carlton.

"Judd" shortened "Judas", coincidence?...... i think not

Nath Brown broke his leg when he committed this level of treachery and has never been the same, hope it happens to Judas too.............. wow thats really cold

It had nothing to do with money. Judd says from 2005 he knew he wanted to return to Melbourne.

In other words from 2005 he wanted to leave the Eagles. We can only blame ourselves for our poor culture.

I don't think it was bad trade. Of course it might've been better to pick Palmer or Rioli? which would've made all the difference.

And Kennedy should eventually solve our Hansen problem.

Corned Cobblers :p

You mean if our 'culture' was different, he would have stayed?

He prefers the culture of proven cheats (Carlton), or one of the other Vic clubs that had 27 positive drug tests. Or clubs where players screw their mates wives. Or clubs where drunken louts le to their clubs and the police.

Oooo....WCE bad culture, Boys talking to gangsters, player evades a booze bus........we're so bad compared with the squeaky clean vics eah?

Or maybe after our domination, the Vics decided to screw us!!!

Interstate clubs were dominating the competition. Eagles, Port, Brissy, Sydney, Eagles again. Sydney were aging, clobber WCE and the road is free for the Vic clubs again. And so it was.

I would love to know if the result was going to be the same or not, IF Cuz was sacked at the start of the season rather than the end of the season.

If all came down to that, I find it staggering that before this season Judd talks about catchin up with Cuz for lunch and interviews states that they have spoken after him leaving the club. I just weird, if Cuz and our 'evil' culture was the reason, wouldn't you want to not associate with those people ever again. Or maybe, its just me.

Cold but fair.

If Juddas doesn't get a bad injury soon, I will start to think that Earl Hickey is barking up the wrong tree and karma doesn't exist.

Hmm....Best & Fairest,Brownlow medalist,All Australian and last but not least Premiership captain.
May have been a reluctent captain but no doubt helped the team remained focused on the task at hand when the s**t hit the fan around cus, showed good leadership and got the job done. Dissapointed he left no doubt but he had a big hand in us winning a flag and they don't just hand them out, ask the saints or doggies fans.
He gave us 6 years of great footy and not to many people would say he did'nt have a crack in all the games he played.
The only pleasure for me is i think he may only see that 1 flag, as the blues are getting ahead of themselves and are a fair way off that last sat in september IMO.
