Judd: the elephant in the room

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I am pretty confident Juddy will get off. The intent stuff is crapola unless Juddy comes out and says "I was trying out my full cross over finger hold". The facts are that he only grabbed a blokes arm. If they respond to the hysteria and give him weeks and then Adams plays this week they are going to look like major fools. Their only out to half please the frenzy and not risk major foolishness would be to suspend him for as long as Adams is out (which they cannot do and which we would appeal anyway - hopefully appealing any conviction if one given)

Intent what a laugh - if you can read intent into this incident then what happens if someone goes the man (punch or charge) but misses. Will we be suspending them in future?

ps Are you waiting for me to go off line for a feeble answer to my question Chadster?

Judd headed for ban

What is so hard to understand about this?
Haters (including MM - no for coach now) want Juddy to get weeks and yet Adams will play next game

Coach. Take the emotion out of it. Any true football lover knows he did the wrong thing. A brain fade, possibly frustration what ever it was he will and should get 1-2 weeks.
I hate Carlton just like most Carlton supporters hate coll'wood. I don't hate Judd or murphy etc.. As I said in a previous post he is a superstar and I hope he has an injury free career until he retires.

The break will give his body a break from getting smashed every week.

This tribunal hearing will take the attention away from the pathetic umpiring last Friday night...

if your suggesting a conspiracy i would suggest the only thing that smells is the stuff you have been smoking,

judds likely best defence statement could likely be the statement patch made on the ABC radio on saturday morning.

Remember which Board you are on !!!!!!!!!

Supporters being emotional. Groundbreaking news. Whoever woulda thunk?

Care to go to the main board and offer the same words of wisdom to the feral, frothing, foaming mob? Or do you think they are being unemotional?

Judd (and Judd alone - prior to any North players touching him) bent Adams shoulder behind his back - an unnatural bend. This is when the dislocation occurs, and when Adams is clearly in the most pain, as evidenced by his legs involuntarily kicking out.

When the North players remonstrate with Judd, Adams' arm is pulled back towards the side/front of his body - a natural bend.

I suggest you stick to your own Board and discuss this topic in the thread you started about what is being said on our Board.

You have derailed this thread enough.

Time to move on !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah saw Chadwiko's other thread. I guess he needs to vent because he got schooled. His HARD PROOF was epic. Epic FUNNY.

I have absolutely no doubt that Judd will get 1-2 weeks. Doesn't mean its fair.

We'll be the ones laughing when Norf go bust, or merge with another crap team :thumbsu::thumbsu:

It takes a special type of poster to start a thread on the North board about what is happening here.

And when I say special I am not using the word in a complimentary sense.

I am not really an emotional Carlton supporter. After years of being heavily involved in Metro footy - I could never get the same passion about AFL where I had no input. This year, I have actually made a fair sum betting against us when the opposition odds have been too good to resist. I honestly believe he held a guys arm and if someone else had not been lying on that guys back (or even if it had been anyone other than Judd) then there was no incident

I'll start with the usual disclaimer that I don't agree with what Judd did, it was silly and I think he should get 3 weeks as the result was he did hurt Adams arm.

However I have continued to listen to the sports shows and have been sickened by the hatchet job being done on Judd.

I didn't hear Grant Thomas on Footy Classified but for the first time tonight I heard Brian Taylor and Gerard Healy at least say on 3AW that they agree his intention was not to set out and dislocate Adams shoulder. It was funny when a Carlton supporter rang in to say that after Wellingham downed Simpson, Taylor mentioned the incident twice in his 3AW call. After the Judd incident, Taylor mentioned it in the call 38 times !!!

In a sorry way I kind of hope he gets 6-8 weeks just to shut up the haters. It astounded me when a North supporter rang up tonight on 3AW to sledge the media for defending Judd !! . To top that a caller, who called himself a Carlton supporter, said Judd should be sacked by the Blues.

It's gone beyond a joke !

PS: In the interest of balance there were a couple of supporters who rang into defend Judd who were clearly a lettuce short of a salad sandwich.

LOL
Supporters dont know how to react to it because it was weird. Low impact incidents barely gets two weeks.

Andy I won't argue with you about your view on the incident but have to ask what should Juddy's penalty be if Adams plays this week.
ps Haters will always hate

Just a gentle reminder to all opposition posters: this is the Carlton board, you play by home team rules here.

There are plenty of threads across Big Footy where you can express your feelings towards Judd and the incident, do it candidly here, or try to make people see the 'light' and it won't end well. It just 'aint the place.

I'll leave it to your capable mods to run this board. Just wanted to reiterate the ground rules.

So how long has the tribunal been sitting for?

This is kind of funny in terms of the wit gone into it, I for one think Judd deserves 3 plus weeks, but it has never happened before and is very strange so do not know what to expect.

however it shows the incident from multiple angles and it does not look good, some supporters will play blind faith that he wont get reported, and I take my hat off to you, I wish I could see it the same way....

personally i think it was a silly brainfade incident, and 1-2 weeks would fit the bill, i also dont beleive he set out to dislocate patches arm, but it was sloppy and reckless.

as for the auntie jack parody a couple of posts up, well, that is funny.

I think the tribunal will see that the arm was hurt and regardless of whether he plays this week or not will still get 3 weeks (although with the media attention don't be surprised if its 5-6 weeks).

My own personal opinion is that the end result or whether he plays next week is somewhat irrelevant. I always look at what the intention of the act is. As with Wellinhgam, I don't think he intended to hit Simpson as flush as he did and cause the damage - same as Judd. I've argued on here that he did not set out to dislocate Adams shoulder which is what he appears to being accused of (at least in the press).

If Adams play, still 3 weeks for mine.

Anyone watch on the couch tonight? Very interesting footage of Cyril Rioli doing to chicken wing tackle on Warnock when the Blues played the Hawthorn a few weeks ago. Warnock was taken to the ground and got up off the ground holding his arm, Couldn't take the resulting ball up and eventually the doctor came out to attend to him obviously No serious damage in the end as he played out the game. Funny enough didn't see it highlighted in any media outlets 2 weeks ago either.

Obviously they have to change the rule, however they can't change it after suspending Chris Judd first, Judd has to get off - we all know that will not happen as he has been hung quarter and dried by the media already.

Which quarter?

I'd like to see that to make my own judgements.

3rd Quarter 16.05 to go on the clock - I went back and watched the few minutes after and he couldn't take the ball up and was wondering down to the forward line and you see the doctor come out to him.

What time does the tribunal actually sit? I think Judd deserves to get off, far from the first player to ever hurt a players arm (you'd assume it hasn't helped him actually "injuring" it later, but hard to say it actually lead to the injury, if that is the case though that's the NM medicos fault, not Judds) in a tackle pinning an arm (albeit its a slightly weirder one) and for it to be squashed going forward. Wouldn't argue if they gave him a week for that same reason, but with all the media hysteria, It's really anyone's guess as to what he ends up getting. I'm still expecting 0-1, but I could see them giving him the year off since he's already tried and convicted by the media, and the general inconsistency of the MRP.

On Ziebel as well, very unlucky I recon. He just attacked the ball, wasn't any intent, both of em just went the ball and unfortunately Joseph copped an unlucky hit. Doesn't deserve weeks, hope they challenge it and he gets off.

Gotta say also, pretty disgusting job from media chasing him around like he's some con artist today tonight are after, hounding him at auskick functions, training etc. Wellingham gets the "we respect you can't discuss the incident" and left alone, Judd gets jostled and hounded, I know its profile related, but still. Disgraceful.

I disagree with the notion that they need to punish Judd to set a precedent. If this act goes punished then EVERY little contact would need to be scrutinized from now on to remain fair and even....and we know this isn't going to happen.

Cheers. :thumbsu:

Rioli laid a chicken wing tackle at the centre bounce following Suckling's goal...

Not even close to the same type of thing.
Rioli made a legitimate attempt to tackle a player who had the ball and grabbed him between the waist and the shoulders as he is legally allowed to do.
Judd grabbed a prostrate players arm and twisted it unnaturally while the player was in no position to move and the umpire had called for a ball up.
