Just wondering what you guys think about paying close to a quarter of the salary cap on one player. If I remeber correctly you guys were paying Kouta over a million a year and it really hurt your club.

Not saying Judd is not worth it but what happens if you have some success and you need to upgrade some of your younger emerging players. The Lions and Swans for instance have cap concessions whilst clubs like West Coast and Gellong have no players being paid over a million dollars a year.

Could come back to haunt you guys and girls.

can u show me a quote where it says we are paying him that much or is it just media speculation????????????????????

From what I have read (not on BF) about Judds salary, it is heavily front-ended, so he will receive a fair whack of it in 2008, whilst guys like Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Waite and Fisher all have their contracts in place. Murphy, Gibbs and Fevola come out of contract in 12 months time, and there should be no problems getting them all in under the cap, and paying them what they are worth.

Furthermore, with Kouta and Lappin retiring, and Whitnall being delisted, that would have freed up a fair bit of room in our cap as well.

It will only come back to haunt them if, like Kouta, Judd doesn't deliver on the potential they are paying for. I think the chances of that happening are rather low. There may be issues down the track with the amount he will need to be paid, in particular since he won't be able eligible for the veteran's list. However, I do not think that will be a real issue. By then you would think he would have enough cash and would take a pay cut. But then again, it is Judd we are talking about. It is a shame he didn't stay with the Eagles just because he would have been paid absolutely stupid money in 4 years time, once he was on the veterans list.

Silly troll.

You have no proof that the Carlton Football Club is playing Chris Judd a quarter of their salary cap. Unless you can prove it, it is advisable that you shut up about this issue as you might upset KB who probably still thinks the Tuggers are in the box seat for his services.

Thank God the Tigers didn't get Judd.

Their supporters will be glad they saved all that valuable cap space for stars such as Morton, McMahon,Tambling, Schulz, Pettifer, JON, Polak, Pattison, Polo, Raines, King, Graham, Thursfield, Newman and McGuane. They won't have any trouble paying the minimum 92.5% when the contracts of Bowden, Tivendale, Johnson, Simmonds, Richo and Brown are no longer on their books.

****wit!

for what it costs us to pay him we would be also making alot of money of other things that would compensate for it eg membership, merchandice, and sponsership (every sponser would want there name on a jumper that the best player in the leauge was wearing this is the reason we now have the bigest sponsership deal in the history of the afl and maybee the whole of the sporting australia according to greg swan) so we are not just getting him for his off field talents but also his of field. plus i almost forgot his bargining talents aswell. this helps us pick up other players as they see a big insentive to move to carlton to play with him.

Two years ago Aka said he wouldn't want to come to Carlton. If he were asked the same question today, I think his answer might be different. Thanks Juddy. If a big sponser were asked to come on board two years ago, the answer would have been no. Not now- thanks Juddy. He is worth every last cent. Ask any player on our list about their opinion on how much he gets- I'm tipping their fairly comfortable with it. Even if he breaks down, the value he has given to our club without having played a game is beyond anything that a team from Craigeburn could generate in a generation.

Yes well you Carlton supporters know a few things about the salary cap. Well cheating it anyway and the way you got busted, comical.

Come to think of it there has been alot of those kind of allegations squared at your club, you know cheating the salary cap, tanking (very very sad) and having a president or two convicted of corporate fraud in a major way.

Short memory greaseballs.

Fact number one:
Carlton only got busted for paying Stephen O'Reilly too much. You probably have never heard of him.
Fact number two:
To be convicted of something requires that you have committed a criminal offence. Pratt nor Visy have been "convicted".
Fact number three:
Kevin Bartlett only comes back to your club when there is a financial gain for his family. Very sad

Thanks for your concern.

Firstly, the TPP is currently 6.3 million per club.

A quarter of that is over 1.5 million.

Next year the TPP is up around 7 million (at 25% = 1.75 million).

How much is it that you think he is being paid?

I'll give you time to try and source the article you think told you.

Cheers,
BB.:thumbsu:

Your not taking into account Judd's hefty pay rise.

Why else would he join the Blues.

For the prestige and honour, not money.

Judd is on around $1.25 million a year plus all the free visy packing boxes and Hyundai Getzs he wants.

Judd joined Carlton for the money?
Your suggestion is so disrepectful to the bloke who is possibly the best footy player ever.
You obviously didn't hear the interview when he talked about the 'East Coast Eagles'. If you were based in Melbourne, he'd still be with you. He loved your club, played his heart out, and was the Captain of a Premership side. At Carlton, we call that type of person a Legend. At your insignificant club which represents no known suburb of Perth, well, I suppose you just have another line.

You are an idiot.

Carlton, Melbourne, Collingwood and Essendon all line up for Judd when he names them as his preferred list. They all offered the same amount of money to land the best player in the comp. So he didn't just choose Carlton for the money, he sighted the playing list being exciting, the club moving forward and wanting to be a part of some from the ground up.

He said that if WC were in Melb he would have signed up for 10 years!!

But you need to ask yourself this, his main reason was his family.

If WC weren't in the trouble you are, do you think he would still be at WC, i think he would, but he just wasn't happy with the culture!!

Hopefully you guys turn that around, i'd hate for JK to be subjected to that, he is a good kid!!

Your pathetic administration and football department stuck their head in the sand and pretended nothing was wrong because all that mattered was the wins.

Do your research mate. You'd think living in Brisbane you would know the Lions retention allowance is gone. Sydney do still have a "cost of living" concession but Brissy's has been phased out over the last couple of years.

Here we go, another doofus with his facts all twisted up in his knickers. Listen mate Judd isn't on 1/4 of our salary cap, he's on 3/4's of our cap, and no we wont be having any problems this time around because everyone else is getting paid in a far shiftier way than Elliott ever dreamed and the AFL have NO CHANCE of EVER catching us this time around. Ha ha haaaa.:thumbsu:

You just wait till we poach Deliddio on a million a year contract, Foley too he's getting 2 million plus a penthouse at docklands. We're gunna rape richmond real good. It's gunna be fun.
