I voted Judd, purely for the example and standards he sets.

Maxwell will be a completely different type of captain than Judd anyway. Not my first choice but he will give it everything which is positive.

Finally, yes i do know that this is a take the piss thread and i am being serious but as far as 'captain material' goes i think judd would not be in the top few in the league - somewhere in the mid. But yes, higher than Maxwell

It would be like Carlton making Chief Wiggins our club captain.

Great bloke and gives everything for the jumper, yes.

But captain, no...especially when you're barely more than a fringe player.

Maxwell barely makes the grade as a footballer, but who else did they have to pick from, back pendler, daisy....Swan may of been a better choice.

What I want to know is where are the leaders at?. Show me the leaders I say.

Judd because he can play football I mean Maxwell can be a great leader but he can't play football I mean he isn't gonna break a game open from pure leadership and inspire your team.

Is that too much bias ;)

There's your answer. Pendlebury's a perfect choice. From all reports he's a leader, and unlike Hackwell, he has genuine talent. If you're gonna make him Vice Captain he may as well have the top job.

What's hilarious is that now they can't drop Hackwell. - Good news for 15 other clubs. :thumbsu:

I reckon Swan looks more the goods to me. Oh, and the Duddy Juddy thing?

Playing Honours
Carlton Captain 2008; Brownlow Medal 2004, 3rd 2006; Best & Fairest 2004 & 2006, Runner-up 2003 & 2005, 3rd 2002; All-Australian 2004 & 2006; International Rules series 2002; AFL Players Association MVP 2006; Norm Smith Medal 2005; Premiership Captain 2006; Club Captain 2006 & 2007; AFL Rising Star nominee 2002.

Please God, make me a Duddy for Xmas.

Maxwell is average at best. I would take all our defenders over him, even Saddo!

Pendlebury should have been given the C

Anybody else who thinks it would be funny to be the only one to vote for Maxwell - DONT! There are 4 of us idiots now :o

Maxwell isnt good enough to do up judds boot laces, so i guess you have my answer on that one. I really think pies shoulda gone with fraser as skipper

Funny how only one of those honours you've listed was in 2008 and that one honour Maxwell has now too. Although Judd won the B & F which you havn't listed. BTW, I still voted Judd but he has been a bit of a dud at Carlton compared to what he was at West Coast.
Duddy Juddy>Maxwell though

Let's not forget being named Captain of the 2008 All Australian side, now. ;)

EDIT: If you rate Judd as the second best midfielder in the competition, which Collingwood midfielder isn't "a bit of a dud"?

1 Ablett
2 Judd
3 Black
4 Bartel
5 Cooney
6 Harvey
7 Mitchell
8 Kerr
9 Goodes
10 S.Burgoyne

Maxwell as he is a far superior player to Judd and his career accolades speak for themselves. He is by far the most inspirational player I've ever seen so he's the perfect fit for captain.

I rate Judd as second best midfielder at his best but he clearly wasn't as good in 2008.

That was obviously an embarassing selection. Just another example of a player living on past glory rather than on current form. Judd is quite an average player these days, which is a shame, because he was awesome to watch at his best.
