Melbourne carried that momentum into overtime to run out victorious before a raucous Adelaide crowd.

The victory, however, was soured - and arguably overshadowed - by the post-game antics of former Sixer Julius Hodge.

After being jeered and heckled from the time he entered the arena and every time he touched the ball given his messy exit from Adelaide last season, Hodge, who baited the parochial South Australian crowd at various stages during the game, celebrated the Tigers' win by aggressively and provocatively stomping on the signature of club legend and long-serving former Sixers captain Brett Maher which adorns the court.

He then returned to do it again, which resulted in unimpressed Adelaide players remonstrating with their former team-mate and even Hodge's own team-mates attempting to pull their star import into line with Worthington publicly apologising for Hodge's actions on behalf of his club post-game.

Full.

I know they didn't pay you in your stint there, but jaysus...

Yeah, I was there tonight.

Seriously, pump your arms and scream and shout all you want, but you don't stomp on an NBL legends name, come on. That's just silly. Particularly when you have had quite an average game (although he did pull his finger out in the fourth quarter and overtime periods).

A few supporters when a bit crazy at the end and it almost went Artest in Detroit, but fortunately sense prevailed and his teammates dragged him off the court (not before Sixers CEO Ben Fitzgerald had got in his face over the stomping incident).

Props to Wortho (an outstanding player, who saved the Tigers with clutch threes in the end) for manning up and apologising for these actions after the game.

Whats the go there? Why did he have such a falling out?

He didn't get paid for a couple of months, which led to a falling out with management and him walking out on the club. I didn't blame him at the time because it was amateur hour for a professional sports team, but this sort of carry on is ludicrous.

Who knew that Mark Worthington would be the one with class? That seriously is why Hodge never made it in the NBA. He is just an arrogant prick and I have no idea why he is back in the NBL if he hated the experience so much. And all his talk after he left that he still liked the city and the fans is a bunch crap if he did something like that.

Hes a legend. Him and Williams antics are what the NBL needs.

I'm sorry but Hodge is a hypocritical douche. Stomp on a legends name on his home court and then have the utter cheek to criticise the crowd for being 'classless'. Talk about pot calling the kettle black.

I can handle Corey's antics but Hodge is just a redneck.

He's delusional about who he is.

Big ups to Wortho, he shouldn't have to appologise for others actions but well done for doing so.

All those blokes you list there could ball....especially Timms. How many NBA teams did Miller play for...10? Must be close

This is good for the league. We need more villains. Shane Heal should come out of retirement again.

Agreed, the more the better. How is it bringing the game into disrepute by stomping on a signature? Jee people are soft. Respect for hodge:thumbsu:

Villains are fine but there is a difference between being controversial and arrogant and being downright disrespectful to a league legend. When Shane Heal bumped Charles Barkley at the Olympics it was arrogant but he was standing up for himself and telling Barkley he wasn't going to take his shit anymore.

The crowd was on Hodge's back all game but instead of doing what Heal would do and drop five 3's on us and wave to the crowd after every one, he chose to suck and then because he had a decent last five minutes he then chose to incite the crowd not by positive actions but by a negative action.

We here in Adelaide love our sporting legends and if you disrespect or say something bad about one of them we will arc up and you had better be able to run fast.

In conclusion, Hodge is an idiot. Bring back Heal.

Actually think its pretty good for the league. But Hodge is an idiot who couldn't make it in the NBA.

ok look. after reading some articles on this and reviewing the tape i feel that somethings fishy here. i think the nbl, adelaide and melbourne have colluded here to try and get some publicity for the ailing league. bad publicity is good! people are talking about it, even people like me who htink the nbl is shit! if even 1 person decides to rock up to games and buy merchandise its a good thing
