If you know anyone who isn't a member, get them back on board the membership train.

Out of all of the Victorian clubs, we are actually second bottom, only just ahead of the desparate Kangaroos. For a club that was up near the 3rd or 4th rung last year, that is a huge drop.

We are most likely going to the finals, be positive and jump on board. It is $200 odd bucks for an entire year, which is nothing in comparison to the other crap you probably waste your money on.

Jump on board, now.

As well it also helps with getting finals tickets being a member.

This is disgraceful! It is embarassing to know that we have the most bandwagon supporters in the league. Everyone likes to say they are a Geelong supporter when they are playing well, but not all those people want to invest in the clubs future.

I have already heard one person on here say they will not be signing up because the club was stopping unions spreading propaganda outside the ground. How many more have pitiful excuses like that?

The club has gotten their act together on and off the ground, I am afraid the supporters have let the GFC down in this case.

Congratulations cat fans, we now have the second lowest number of members, only ahead of Kangaroos!

I think we'll struggle as long as the capacity of KP stays as low it is.

Only the really committed cat fans will buy memberships where they know they won't get 'value' through entry to games.

It's official, I'm in, or on the bandwagon. Been a Cats fan for 40 years and just bought a membership for the first time!!
Arrived in the mail this week, very nice.
I live in SW West Australia so can't get as much value from a membership as you lucky swine living in Victoria but have bought my air ticket to Melbourne for the start of September and looking forward to a good finals series, and maybe, just maybe a reason to smile on the last Saturday in September!!
My 9 year old son asked me today what would I do if Geelong won the Grand Final?
"I'd cry" simple as that!
He laughed, then realised I was serious!!!

I know Geelong have disappointed in the past, and there are no guarantees about this year, but there is something different this year I reckon, there's a steely edged determination and a realisation of what it takes to get the job done week in and week out. We've stopped dropping the soft games, we've started winning outside Victoria, we've had a great run with injuries and suspensions, the signs are all good and I'm officially excited!

Having said that, there was a disturbing comment on ABC radio today that the team on top of the ladder at the half way mark of the season have only won one of the last 10 premierships! Maybe if the Eagles could win by 300 points next weekend and jump back to the top on percentage the stars would be truly aligned!!

How good was Junior today?
Brilliant.
I've been reticent to pump him up because of all the hype and ex[ectation that goes with being Gary Ablett but he just gets better and better every week.

C'arn the Cats!!

Cannot talk Geelong supporting mates in Melbourne to join up - after last year - despite our current form - also, they do not see the point if they cannot get a seat at S.S. - they all remark on this so I think the comment reflects the thinking of many prospective members in Melbourne.

It is something the club needs to think about, which they are doing...
How many other clubs in the league offer a membership where you're not guaranteed a seat?

What exactly do they have to think about? Apparently there's no reserved seats available to buy for 2 years.

Try Adelaide, Freo and the Eagles. At the Eagles it is near a 4 year wait to get a seat. Same goes for Adelaide. So stop the crap excuses. You can't get up to the 4 home games in Melbourne ?? You can't get to the standing room availability at KP ??

It is hilarious that many people will give up the opportunity to ensure your clubs survival over a small issue like, I don't get the seat I want etc.

I live in Canberra, have been a member virtually all my life. I have also extensively travelled throughout the world, but the thing I think of the most is supporting something that is dear to me, to give to them ensures they survive, and also that I can continue to support the team in a National Comp.

It is a lowly $250ish bucks or something like that for a home membership. Do you know what crap you spend on yourself in a year which probably amounts to double that ??

Give up your cash and give it to the club, they would love your positive support.

So what if you've got a couple of young kids that you want to take to SS but the only place you can go is to stand on the hill but your kids can't see the game because of too many people in front of them? Obviously you're a single bloke?

My point was/is that anyone who has a membership to a Melbourne based team can get a seat anytime they want. Yet if you're a Geelong member you have to pay extra to get a seat? I understand that interstate clubs deal with the same thing but does that mean we have to? If the club is aiming to get upwards of 30,000 members then how do they expect to fit them (and the opposition supporters) into K-Park which fits 28,000 (or there-abouts).

It's a bit presumptious to know what I or any other supporter spends his/her money on. $250 can be a bit much around membership buying time. Like VoRogue said, for some people who have kids or nephews/nieces or younger brothers/sisters, trying to make them stand in the outer for 3 hours is an effort. It's not like the most refined people are out there either...

Some people actually want to get some value for their membership when they pay above a certain amount of money. To me buying a membership was about supporting your club AND getting discount at home games.

But you're obviously one of those people who think if you have a membership it makes you more of a supporter than people who don't, which is clearly wrong...

Heard Brian Cook on 3AW before the game on Sunday. He said effectively every seat they add to SS, they take away 2 standing room spots, which is where the decrease in capacity has come from basically. Currently they are knocking on the door of local, state and federal governments for another $25 million to continue with the redevelopment. He said it would be ridiculous to loan $10 million at this stage as it would put the club out of business in 5 years with interest and the like.

I love the standing room. I'd rather keep it than put in extra seats.

Good onya mate, welcome aboard!!

It would be foolish to get rid of any standing room at present. Both Adelaide and Perth are looking at new and bigger stadiums (stadia?) - haven't been to to Subi but AAMI is like Optus Oval. It is unrealistic to compare us to the two clubs in each of those cities as they have 1 million in each city (Perth will be 2m in the near future) to draw on and they have waiting lists. (Port get a shocking deal at AAMI but that is a local problem - Crows do the dirty on them whenever they can)
200,000 in the Geelong region - only 1/2 of whom support the club - a piddly 8500 members in Melbourne - 4,000,000 people here and we do not know how to tap that market. Get Bracks off his arse, tell Howard it will win him an election, and build something worthwhile and we'll be right - we need their money! - but we cannot go into massive debt again.
