Jumper design

Our club is young, yet the history and tradition of footy in Freo is long and proud. Should we consider a change of guernsey, one that more reflects the design of our original heritage guernsey thus tapping into the long and proud tradition of footy in Freo, yet retaining our purple colour? I'm not necessarily advocating ditching the anchor... but I was having a bit of a play around and came up with these as possible guernseys, if we were to change the design. They are also closer to more "traditional" designs - rather than the "marketers designs" that some of the newer clubs (like ours, Port, weagles - even Sydney and WB to a degree...) trot out each week.

The colour purple is a bit poncy but hey, what other colours were left? At least we didn't have to pick teal

I really think our jumper should stay the same no matter what, it's set now and it has a lot of character.

Screw the clubs that adapt to the times like we did with our diagonal anchor, I say keep it symmetrical, keep the colours and be stubborn in design. That way players know what they are playing for, not something that will change through the seasons........ let's create an institution like VB!

This is what the jumpers should be. I would be ecstatic if they were changed to this full time.

I used to hate the original green one but with the darker shade I probably wouldn't mind seeing it again for a heritage round or something.

Someone once told me they dropped it because the players reckoned that it blended in with the grass too much. (I think he may have been pulling my leg)

I don't think anyone has a problem with the away strip, it gets my motor going if you know what I mean!

I wouldn't be against an all purple home shirt, but I just like that the colours mean something specific to the team name, it's a uniform with meaning.

I like the simple version.
Red and green just do NOT go together.
If the red was gold and the green lighter ie. teal they could be incorporated in a reasonable design but change arrrgggh, gasp, horror, so.... the white and purple interchange will do for me.

100% agree...but I don't think the club intends going down that path again the vote a few years back.

Hopefully they re-consider...ditch the red & green

I agree. Keep it simple, and dont change it! 4 team colours is too much.

im said many time i think that rather than keep changing designs as the mob down the road do lets build some tradition in the jumpers we have. the white is new and a great idea as a clash/ away jurnsey while i feel the all purple one should be left for the purple haze game that raises so much money for charity

Don't listen to them IP. I think change isn't always a bad thing. I have said it before I'm all for reasonable progressive change. We have a great thing at Fremantle, and I truly believe a few tweaks here and there we can improve on what we have.
There are a few things I would change - our song sucks -I get flamed for saying this every time, but we can do better. At least have something melodic. The club nickname "Dockers" was never fully checked out.. we can't legally use it or have it on our merchandise. This simply has to change.
The jumper designs are good IP. It combines our established colours with the heritage design, thereby bypassing the Souths/Easts thing and going back to the clubs original heritage. Everyone's happy. Nioce work.

P.S if nothing else.. a pet hate of mine has always been the little anchors on the socks and shorts on out current uniforms. I'm sorry but they look maritime gay. We are a football team, not the crew of the Love Boat. Get rid of them. Either have nothing or replace with club insignia.

I would start barracking for Freo is you started wearing that.

Great jumpers, and it would stop you being at the butt end of the football world's jokes.

These are your two best jumpers IMO.

The colour is unique to the competition, the anchor is recognised as your symbol and it's a pretty simple design.

Purple is still a gay colour though.

Not that there's anything wrong with that of course.

I like the purple & white for sure! Green and red should definitely go. White anchor on purple jumper, or purple anchor on a white jumper - either way looks great.

And those designs look great as well IP.

The only thing is we can't go all into it in one foul swoop and just go with the old time v's on the jumper as it would upset too many people at once (as much as I think they are good designs). Just the reaction on this board can tell you that some people don't like to change too much at once (in some cases at all). So the best option would be to have the two purple/white guernseys for the next couple of years then maybe pull out that 'radical' purple with white v's and white with purple v's for a heritage or purple haze game.

Hmmm...sooner we look like a football team, the sooner we can play like one

Top be honest, I'd be very disappointed if they scrap our current home jumper. That has really grown on me over the last few years and I actually like it and no longer blindly accepting it just because it's our club's jumper.

Keep the all white(purple anchor) as the way strip I think the current home jumper is fine. The all purple jumper is used for the "purple haze" game

That first one looks alright because it's less purple.

Should change to blue jumpers that would be much easier on the eye.

The heritage round guernseys are really good.
