Would love Pav at the pies, such a good player. Would only happen though if he wanted to come over here as Freo would never trade him away considering he is the best player they have had so far in their short history. He would cost a lot to get him and it is hard to see if it would be worth it until possible trades are thrown up by the clubs.

Wont happen. I think its very similar to the Bradshaw thread. Good players, but may not perform well outside of their teams. He wont become a Pie, i dont think theres anything in it for him in Melb. Hes an SA boy, and before he resigned with Freo, he rejected a move to Port, so by that conclusion, i would say highly unlikely.
Dawes is where its at. Given the oppurtunity he will preform. Time, experience and development will help him turn into a solid contributor.

If Pav can play at the level he has at Fremantle I cannot think of a reason he would not be able to perform at any club. He may not stand out as much but I think regardless of where he plays, whether he moves that is, he would have just as much influence on games as he has in the past.

Yeah, i know what your sayng, and your alowed your opinion. I dont have the stats, but from the games ive seen of his, hes a different player in Perth then what he is elsewhere.
In a team of average players hes stood out as the 1 gun for them, so can perform under pressure, but think its wishful thinking if the Pies want to get their hands on him.

Thats a fair point but its a criticism that could be made of the whole Freo team, it would be hard to consistently dominate interstate when you are getting reamed every time and half the team playing completely brain dead. This year they didn't win a game in Melbourne (closest being 13points against the roos) most being at least 5 goal losses and a couple absolute thrashings. I haven't looked at his stats but I'm sure it would be better than most of the Freo team, but it is hard for players to shine like they could when they are surrounded by crap and developing kids. Put a bit of support around him and I'm sure he could improve his game outside of Subiaco.

Neither will SANDILANDS,

So if Malthouse has 2 years left,and believes a few tweeks can gets a flag he may try it.

Freo have a so called youth policy,so the will demand our first round pick 14 plus a kpp like dawes or reid.
I would part with reid but not DAWES.
Reid and DAWES are only very very young.
The Pav would have 2-3 years max left in him( had we picked up Pav yaers ago when we had the chance we would have had 2 flags by now )
I wouldn't be parting with young kp players.especially when we look at
Gold Coast and West sydney coming into the AFL very soon.

Personally i would offer Freo LEON DAVIS (age 28) plus our first round pick 14.
That is plenty for a 28 year old.
They get a lightning mid fielder, half forward and they can pick up a kpp with pick 14. plus they have a top 5 pick in the early part of the draft don't they ?

He would be just what we need. Don't make him run up the ground seeing as how he is starting to get a bit older and let him park himself in the goal square. He is a very very good FF, something we have never really had, I mean look at what he has produced in his time up forward with freo and look at the differences in the midfield

What do you mean "can't even"? We are a top 4 side, with the likes of Heath Shaw, Harry O'Brien and Nick Maxwell occupying Cox's position.

I think he would be great in some bottom 8 sides. But in saying that, he isn't worth all that much.

Why on earth would you be willing to give up Reid but not Dawes???

If we traded Reid, when Presti retires we would have only Brown as a KPB prospect. Our defense would look very thin. And this is without mentioning Reid showed bucket loads of potential down back this year to the point he should be a fixture in the 22 come next year. He has shown alot more potential than Dawes who has been so so IMO. I'd say Dawes is a much much more tradeable proposition.

And Collingwood supporters wonder why it is that their club never lands any big names. They have the same trading mentality as most of you.

No club is going to give up their best player (Pavlich or Sandilands fall into this bracket) for a 28 year old half forward and a late first round pick in a very weak draft. Pavlich could conceivably play into his mid 30's, meaning he will still be around as Hill, Suban etc reach their peak. Malthouse woudn't know what to do with Sandilands if he traded for him anyway.
