Agree re:Wood, and England's entire rotation policy has really confused me. Why are you 'resting' Anderson, Broad and Wood in the opening 2 Tests, the Ashes are going to be all but over by the end of this Test.

England have now taken 15 for 766 in the series, and you suspect at least another 1200 runs will flow from the Aussie bats before the end of the series.

Feels quite ominous for us
We have 5 world class players that allow us win against anyone. We have 2 (Hazlewood and Cummins) not playing this Test and we’re still in a commanding position. I feel for ya.

As I said at the start, just want it to be competitive. I already watched the World Chess Championship, don’t want to watch another massacre.

Apart from Root and Stokes it seems like no one cares. And root does not seem like a very inspiring leader despite being a terrific batsman

Yeah I think we accepted that our preparation was poor and to some extent we were relying for things to come together when we actually start playing. Which sounds like we’ll get lucky on one of the tests being washed out for a draw, it all clicks on the 4th test but we lose anyway before of overambitious captaincy. I was at the Boxing Day test in 2013, I know what it feels like already 😂

Hear me out: Next test, Neser can stay in at the expense of Green. Carey bats 6.
I dont think we need the extra bowler TBH.

Unless we plan on playing 2 spinners

Green is easily good enough as a 5th bowler. With our best 4 being very stong

Preparation was poor? You guys have played an obscene amount of Tests to get ready for the Ashes haha

Stick with Greene he is a long term prospect. Has all the skills and just needs time, Kallis mould.
Cannot believe they label him a medium pace bowler. He’s putting down 140km/h balls and he’s bowling in terrific areas

I don't think it's a silly idea. Someone has to be unlucky to be dropped for Cummins and Hazlewood, who are both locks for Boxing Day. It's a nice problem to have.

Meanwhile, England looks like a deer in headlights - they don't seem to have any answers to anything we throw at them. Hopefully Root and Malan put up some sort of resistance on day 3, or else those optimists with tickets for day 4 will be getting nervous.

I believe the Aussies will be batting at some stage today and this test will not have a 5th day. Lyon will play a big part.

All out by lunch tomorrow, but bowling wise they are pushing shit up hill straight with their length, there's a reason why Stokes is doing well and it's largely because he's at least pitching good instead of back of a length consistently.

Ends up as yep, get Harris as shizen, raffle Warner and here's labs and Smithy you're "expecting" mistakes from? Madness. They aren't bowling anyone out though with this attack, RFM samey same with no Wood or Leach so what, you expect Root to be your front line spinner or alt option just to keep over rate?

Carey to open, drop Harris, keep both as you can really raffle the last 4ish batters in this match from Starc down since Green is underperforming with said bat. Really drive home advantage that the English are mentally going through motions, you're always generally going to get them all out with variation & plans just a matter of when. Then it's really, Wood & Stokes as threats with whomever decided to remove several digits I suppose.

Still think Root digs in and Malan at least attempts to stick around even if he's just a bot, we do forget Labs was dropped several times on his century run, so, in the very least both have the aptitude to push singles here and there for a rough 2 an over for a day.

Labuschagne's first innings scores since being subbed in for Smith at Lords:

74, 67, 48, 185, 162, 143, 63, 215, 47, 48, 91, 108, 74 and 103.

He's just so hungry for runs and finally we have a top class No3 since Punter.
He reached 2000 Test runs in this game - it took him just 34 innings. By comparison, some bum called Bradman did it in 22.

remarkable.

Imagine the hoopla if he came WA or NSW.

It’s Bradman-esque

Not even best-since-Bradman-esque
And while he's piling on the runs, he's also annoying the crap out of the fielding team with his antics at the crease, which is an added bonus :-).
