Well done Freo - you got what was rightfully yours. :thumbsu:

Let's hope this doesn't happen again.

Congratulations and St Kilda you've cemented your place with supporters around Australia. :thumbsd:

I think thats whats been bad with all of this is their sanctamonious coach and staff and players and arrogant supporters. No caring, empathy, understanding, nothing.

I hope the monies spent on St Kilda's lawyers cost them heaps. There's not much I can say regarding the losing solicitor's costs in any case but I hope it doubly hurts St Kilda for trying to cheat the 4 points.

And may I bow down and commend you for your undying support and continual presence on the boards over the last few days!

Way to go campbell! :thumbsu:

Ditto Homer Jnr when he turns up! :thumbsu:

:D

Well done AFL. Right decision. Good luck Freo.

Just hope the Saints don't take this to court.

Would love to have seen Thomas face when the decision was announced. His interview after the game was deplorable.:thumbsu:

As neither a Dockers nor a Saints fan IMO the AFL deserves to be congratulated for their decision. The right verdict has been reached.

The reality is that the umpires acted according to the rules. The umpires called an end to the game when they heard the siren and this does not leave any precedence for a future issue because of an umpiring error. If anything as time off had been called the umpire could have checked with another umpire as to why the Dockers were claiming the siren had sounded.

Be that as it may, the error was that the Timekeepers failed to continue to sound the siren until the Umpires acknowledged the siren. It is certainly not the Umpires fault that the siren was not initially audible and that subsequently the timekeepers made a mistake. It’s not the fault of either team as they kept playing until the game was finally (albeit late) called as over. Really it’s as simple as that.

I believe it was fortunate that the timing of the siren was apparently just before the umpire signalled time off to undertake the final bounce. I do think that if play was continuous at that time, then we may have another consideration.

The one thing that might have made it interesting is that if the timekeeper had of continued to sound the siren as per the rules and it was still not heard until after Baker kicked the point – if that was the case it’s a draw.

I hope that everyone moves forward and considers the future of the game and not wallow in this or past issues – please take note Eddie!

However don't lampoon St Kilda for presenting their case

The only thing worse than a sore loser is a poor winner - and you my friends take the cake:thumbsd:

Good luck for the rest of the season you will most definitely need it:(

The Dockers will be ready. The fighting fund has started and contary to what the the punters think on the east coast we here on the west side of OZ have very sharp legal minds who are very happy to taken them on.

Don't forget the youngest ;)

Although I haven't really been that vocal, just stewin in rage hoping the AFL would see justice and from experience knowing I just shouldn't post when angry.

AFL made the best call. I got the message halfway through my lecture and let out a "YES!". Apparently I'm very enthusiastic about occupational wellness and I got a few wierd looks but the point remains that sanity has prevailed and we can focus on the derby and putting the eagles back in place!

It will not have anything to do with Fremantle if it is taken further, it will be between the saints and the afl.

Poor winners? We've just been trying our rightfully earned 4 points. You've been bitching, whining, moaning, groaning and complaining trying to cheat your way to two and, to some of your supporters, 4 points. Don't blame us for being poor winners, the only bad guys and really, REALLY poor sports in this whole saga has been the St.Kilda team and supporters. I should know because I of poor people pride myself in being a good sport and recognising unsportsmanlike behaviour and you my friends have embarrassed yourselves to the nation.

On lighter note a better sports note, good luck with the rest of the season and see you in Round 20.

Cheers

Yep no probs there, heaps of precedent - a draw. Plus it doesn't always result from a substandard siren. Port v Brisbane at AAMI in 2003 the crowd noise at the end was so great most of us missed the siren.

Ok that's over, now onto Saturday where we play another one of our 15 opponents.

One week at a time.
Masai well said.
Though the game this weekend is important the seagulls are only one of 15 other teams we have to beat.
But to all those knockers of Hart and Schwab who said let it rest and lets concentrate on the Derby all I can say is :D stick that in ya pipe and smoke it.They go on about how ordinary the club is going yet were prepared to let the AFL shaft the club.Well it just goes to show that RH &CS have far more heart and far more feel for the club than the losers who said to let it rest.
