We rarely discuss Kade-o in this forum, but I think that yesterday, Kade's running game really reminded me of a more 'forward' Paul Bower, so I was thinking to myself, could he fill the void left by Paul Bower on the Half Back line? Obviously his short stature doesn't help him in contests, but his back-to-forward running game was irresistable yesterday, and I think it really mixes up our stratergies and keeps the opposition guessing, seeing as he's more spontaneous that the normal 'kick up the wing'.

What do you guys and girls think?

:thumbsu:

Does he have enough of a defensive side of the game to play on a back flank? That's what Bower certainly has and while Simmo certainly has the run and disposal to play there, you've got to wonder whether he can shut a man down when need be and know when to attack and defend. Playing him on the wing is good enough for me.

He has made himself on the wing. I also thought along the lines that he could give us the much needed run off halfback, but i think armfield would maybe be suited to this role. Simply as simmo is so tiny, that it would such a risk to play him on an opposition small forward. Players like wojinski, shaw, johncock, jake king, all have good upper body strength to help them halve contests.

But we could use a runner off half back....walker not to far away my friend ;)

Not so sure. No doubt Simmo can do some of Bowers rebounding duties. But Bower adds another the dimension to our defensive lineup. Bower has good height, and is great on the tall KP forwards, but what I really like is his high-risk high-payoff option selection. It reeks of courage, arrogance and attitude. A brilliant footballer. :)

Thornton could be an answer. And he kicked a goal on the weekend! Great stuff Bret.

Seems to me Carzzo playing more defensively these days as well - although i am waiting for Walks to return as i think he will compliment the backline nicely - a bit of height and speed

Leave Simpson on the wing, and let him continue to be his attacking self. Really breaks the lines well for us, and backs his leg speed.

He also provides a good link between the backline and the forwards. Leave him exactly where he is.

I agree with this, he is almost like our version of chance bateman.
