Apart from needing another genuine KP Defender, what were actually missing is a essential tagger. Kane Cornes is in the top three players in the AFL for negating his opponent. But unlike other taggers he gets a fair bit of the ball as well. Also his not fazed with having to go in defence and play from there. This is also another reason why his such a good tagger and negater.

I know Bateman has played that role well to good effect, but I get the feeling his not as good as he used to be. Lewis is the other, but it seems he only gets his role tagging in the foward line. Of course we have Shiels and depending on development it's hard to say how good he will be in that role.

I noticed that Kane was dropped this week. Don't know why, he has been good again this year. Maybe Primus wants to make statement, or maybe he wants to start blooding youngster at Port. If the latter is the case then maybe they would be happy for a trade, we give them draft picks and some players and make the trade. He would no doubt be in our 22 and a certain starter each week. Would improve our side immensely. I'm probably just wishful thinking but considering we have poached a few players from Port could Kane be the last piece of the puzzle? Of course he would but he is the son of Graham Cornes and that's probably the only reason why we wouldn't get him to leave Adelaide.

Sounds good and having a guy like Cornes would've been nice a couple of years ago. I just think having another overaged midfielder would just weigh us down and then again it's pushing another youngster out of the side. But what your saying does make sense, depending on how many games he's omitted for might determine whether he requests a move or not, but like you said the whole Graham Cornes thing will probably stop him.

The Cornes' are like the three bits of male genatalia, one sausage and two meatballs to put it politely. If Kane Cornes completes you, then what exactly is missing??? ;)

Seriously though. You're 6 months early for trade talk. And if you're not early I'd bet you a jug of beer the Cornes' are probably part of the reason Burgoyne left Fort Flower.

IMO trade talk is the worst time on this board, please dont bring this crap in after round 3 in what looks to be a very promising year.

"Hey Shaun, we're getting the band back together!"

Let's lure Josh Mahoney out of retirement while were at it.

2 things can be guaranteed-

Pearce and Cornes will both play against us in a couple of weeks.

Cornes will pester Mitchell into madness and Pearce will rack up 30 and kick 2 long bomb goals. Bookmark it.

Reading between the lines on why he got dropped. I think because its his job to tag but he was just running wild.

Therefore, didn't follow coaches orders and got the boot because of it.

Its not a happy place to be at Port Adelaide...

So we should recruit anyone who had a day out against us?

Ewwww, a Cornes at Hawthorn...the mere thought of it makes me flinch

anyone hear the Derminator the other week on radio saying he was surprised Hawthorn didnt have a red hot crack at Chadwick Cornes to become our rock ape in the backline?

Someone suggested "Studley Cornes" may follow him down to melbourne and feed off his scraps.

If you are implying that they were recruited because they did well against us, and not because it was seen that they had qualities that we needed, yes, that is where we differ...

Cornes was droppped because his defensive pressure was waning...

was averaging 25 touches a game - his opponent was still hurting port more...

No ****** Way...

Look at what Ling did to Hodge, (admittedly he was underdone), and how it influenced the game. You tell me we put Kane on "Bobblehead" Chapman or Bartel, it wouldn't go a long way to winning the game?

Against Collingwood stopping "Time Warp" Pendels and Swan can also go a long way to beating the Pies.

Same if we played Fremantle, curb Pavlich or Mundy and it you have the edge.

Apparently Pearce is leaving Port Adelaide. Surely Port realise now they have to go down the Gold Coast route and start rebuilding with kids. Just like we did.

We get Cornes who is a better tagger than Ling and it would be as good as getting someone like Sandilands. I think people underestimate the importance of a genuine elite tagger.
