What's your opinion on this big issue?

As much as I hate the idea of a club moving it does seem to me the most logical move.

Although the Bulldogs and Melbourne have similar low support they at least have 40 years without a flag to blame, watch the Dees fans come out in droves if we ever manage to win one.

The Roos despite being just about the most successful club of the 90's just never seemed to have the support, and less clubs in Melbourne could be good for us as far as corporate dollars go.

Well, I think it could be the best for the club and they really need success to prove people wrong if they're to stay in Melbourne. You gotta feel for the supporters though. I'd hate to go through it.

A part of me says No they should stay and give it to the AFL for putting them in a precarious position decision wise but common sense says long term survival does not lay in Melbourne for the Roos.

On one hand, I don't think they should move, because they are a part of this city, one of (if not) the best teams of the 90s, and one of my mates supports them (added to that, the fact that he used to go for Fitzroy). But you have to wonder if they really do have a future here in Vic. The AFL won't be supporting them here as they would up there. I really feel for their fans (as many did move over from the Lions), and I couldn't imagine what it'd be like for any of us to see the Dees in this sort of a position.

They have a future in Melbourne but it requires a few things to happen. The supporters have to buy memberships. It's that simple. The club has an estimated 250,000 supporters around the country. It shouldn't be asking too much for 30,000 of them to spend $140. The board has to be more united in decision making and not half hearted because of some board members having their own agenda.

Part of the problem at the moment is there are board members like Andrew Carter and Stephen Head who are bean counters who couldn't really give a shit about the club or it's history. You could make the argument that all of this could've been done before and why members haven't signed up, but (a) the members haven't been put to the wall before either, and (b) there was a drop off bewcause of the GC indecision. Now that the club has made a commitment to stay and fight the AFL, people will sign up.

The AFL will still have to hand over the funds they're contracted to. If the AFL tried to pull the CBF from North and not the other two, the club isn't going to just sit there and cop it. There would be legal ramifications. Thay are also legally obligated to pay out the $400,000 a match for the GC games until the deal ends in 2009.

As somebody who had their football team (Wimbledon) stolen from them and moved to a plastic city for the enjoyment of a few rich pricks I understand exactly where the North fans are coming from.

Once the AFL and ******** Demetriou have shafted the Roos watch them come circling for us and the Bulldogs when they want a team in Tasmania, West Sydney or Canberra.

If their club members want to fight to be here then I support them 100%. No team should rip a hundred years of history out of the ground and move just on the assumption that it will be a success. At least produce some proper evidence (and not this colossal bull about how the Gold Coast is a growth area) and then talk to me.
