And take another step towards a uniform side full of medicore, medium-sized 'midfielders who can't run or kick?

What a joke.

So we hold on to a medium sized forward who can't run or kick ????

The guy is a lazy waste of talent. The fact that no other club is interested in him should show you that he is an overrated hack.

So what if he kicked 30 goals from 15 games. He was probably the cause of 50 goals the other way due to poor disposal, shocking decision making, non existent work ethic and clumsy attemtps at tackling.

In all honesty, Dog's input would have to improve tenfold for him to be worth more than pick 28.

I'd be happy with that trade probably, though obviously a lower pick is better.

he aint going, collingwood have cooled on him and warmed to medhurst because they can apparently get him for pick 28, but geelong wanted more than that so it looks like he is staying thankfully, i heard all this on sen and a bit in the herald sun

And a bit on the Age:

"Collingwood chief executive Greg Swann also said it was difficult to predict whether Tarrant would go or stay.

"We'll see what happens tomorrow," he said.

Meanwhile, Swann said the Magpies had dropped out of the race for Geelong small forward Steve Johnson."

I just don't get why Johnson is trade bait, but Kelly and Ling are untouchable. In my opinion, they are of less value than Johnson. Ling doesn't even get dropped, it's a joke.

Exactly. Johnson actually put in some good performances this year - the other two didn't. Ling escapes the axe due to being able to jog in circles, huff and puff and point to empty spaces (generally so teammates can pick up opponents he can't catch). Kelly escapes scrutiny because of........ummm............not sure really. Maybe he's taken Gardiner's place as Thompson's current favourite.

Agree. But not sure Gardiner was ever his favourite - thought it was always Kelly. Captain stand-and-point need to buck up next season.

I can see it next year if he's traded:

THE HERALD SUN
JOHNSON KICKS FIVE TO SINK CATS
Geelong will be wondering what they were thinking in trade week last year, as yesterday ex-Cats' player Steve Johnson kicked five for (insert team), whilst Geelong only kicked 8.16 between them, to lose by 12 goals. It is the sixth week in a row that Geelong haven't managed to kick more than ten majors.

Collingwood offered 28, Geelong wanted more.

Collingwood are now looking at Medhurst instead.

I wouldn't rule anything out until 2pm.

If Geelong are desperate to get rid of him they may go back to Collingwood and accept the pick 28 yet.

The pies airing their indifference to the deal in the media could just be to see how eager Geelong are of disposing of Johnson.

You forgot the following:

- "Ling was among Geelong's best with 25 possessions, though with little effect"
- "Kelly was again disappointing"
- "Nathan Ablett starred in the VFL"
