A lot of talk lately about how our form has been less than impressive. Over the last 5 weeks we have won 3 and lost 2. We lost to Carlton when it is believed the flu went through the club (not trying to look for excuses), and playing against a desperate Carlton, We then beat the reigning Premiers quite convincingly, we then turned up with the wrong attitude against a red hot Hawthorn (who then went on to lose to Geelong a couple of weeks later), We then Beat GWS by 120 points (yes the margin flattered us a little but we did not have Jolly, Thomas, Sidebottom and O'Brien who returned a week later to be in the bests), We then beat Stkilda who have been one of the in form clubs over the last month. Yes we only beat them by 6 points but in all honesty we were the better side for the majority of the game!

Big test this week against the form side of the comp in Sydney. Keep the Faith - Go Pies!

Our win loss ratio this season is very flattering in my opinion. We have won EVERY close game.

I don't think we have played one game this year to the standard of our first 17 or so games last season.
I would only suggest we have been VERY good in 2 games. Adelaide away and WCE at home.

I am very concerned about our chances in 2012. The one hope I have is that we can turn our form around as quickly and dramatically as we did this time last year.

Most of that talk I've heard is from Paul Roos over the last 2 weeks, who still refers to Sydney - the team we play this week and who haven't beaten us in 7 years - as "us". The other main culprit is from his couch buddy Mike "The Idiot" Sheahan who changes his opinions on a weekly basis.

Therefore, this talk I think should be taken with a grain of salt. We're 3rd on the ladder behind 2nd on percentage for a reason, because we win most of our games, and we will win another one this week.

If we go on and beat North and then hopefully a still out-of-form Eagles, we sew up a top-2 spot and can rest players against Essendon in the last round.

We're playing in fits and starts.. a great half against Geelong, a second quarter blitzkrieg against St Kilda, 15 minutes against Richmond..

Our most meritorious win was in Adelaide with an undermanned side- there has been a noticeable absence of comprehensive, four-quarter performances. There are mitigating circumstances that help explain this phenomenon however (injuries, retirements, youth, coaching handover).

The Round 1 loss to Hawthorn was understandable, but our other three losses were sobering to say the least. We're just going to have to hope that form and fitness fall into place come September.

A month ago West Coast was an absolute shoe-in for top two...now they will struggle to make top 4 and look to be headed for a first round exit the way they are going. Still TWO months left in the season. I have faith we will give it a big shake.

I think this year is more even then any I can remember, and for that reason it's pretty difficult to get a read on. For that reason it's worth remembering that we have only lost 4 games, and have only been beaten by two teams (one of which isn't likely to feature in finals).

I also heard Mooney talking on 360 last week and he mentioned that he wasn't surprised by Geelong's resurgence after their loss to us. He spoke a bit about the way that teams manage workload and spoke of the way that it then impacts on-field energy. It's something (and without having knowledge of the inner sanctum) I don't feel we did well last year, I felt towards the end of last year we weren't playing anywhere near our best footy and we'd possibly 'burnt out' a bit.

Now this year we haven't played anywhere near the level we did at the end of 2010 and start of 2011, but there are reasons for that, namely new coach, tweaking the game plan etc. Hopefully we've managed the boys right and we will start seeing things click into place over the next couple of weeks.

With all that said there is no doubt that the contract saga is impacting Cloke's form, and with Cloke not imposing as possible it has made it harder for Dawes to play as a foil.

I'm not extremely confident that we're the best team in the league at the moment, but I think this is the first year in a long time that I don't think any set of fans could confidently claim that there team is.
