It looked very nasty, hope for his sake he gets over it, sucks to see a quality young player cop that kind of thing.

Pretty depressing given the way it happened, too- he and Brett Jones both basically sprinted at a loose ball and collided very hard- nothing worse than seeing a player penalised for showing heart.

Michael Voss broke his leg back in 1998 at Subiaco and managed to come back ok so hopefully Kelly will be able to do the same next season. Having said that, it was a real tragedy and set the tone for what was a very disappointing night for our club.

Oh that was far, far too evil, I'm sorry.

Seriously, bloody awful injury to a bloody good young player. He'll hit back, the good ones always do.

Let's hope so :(

Doc Larkins said on TSFS that it is his Tibia?, which is the main bone in the lower leg. He said 3 months out, so id assume that he would be ok for most of pre season. Lets hope so anyway, way too valuable player to have underdone.

And agree with Jubjub on Byrnes.

Might be the making of Shannon Byrnes.

One would assume Spriggs will be brought into the side however, might try to beef him up for trade time :(

Doc Larkins said on Triple M before the game today that it is the same injury Jaime Lawson of Sydney suffered, who never played again.

He said that because it is the main bone of the leg, complications in recovery are higher than usual.

Good luck to Kel, hope he's back and ready to go for next year.

Football is a hideous bitch goddess.

So true.

I wonder why i let myself get so involved sometimes... seems to hold nothing but disappointment inevitably.

It’s such a harsh setback for arguably one of our best players this season. It certainly hindered our match as before this moment we were seemingly in control of the match.

Let’s just hope it’s a quick recovery.

Well it won't be quick, 16-20 weeks according to one site I looked at. The big complication is infection. I think Stoneham did his tibia and was basically out for two years because of complications due to infections. Never got back to his pre-injury form either.

Bloody hope that's not that case and that he is right again by no later than Christmas.

James will remain in WA for that reason and also because he cant fly

They had an injury update on Fox Footy tonight with some doctor from the AFL on talking about James Kelly's injury. He said that it's only a fracture at this stage, and there's a chance Kelly wont need surgery if the bone doesn't move within the next 2 weeks. At this stage, the bone is in place but if it moves, Kelly will have to have surgery. They seemed to think he'll be fine for next season, but with 2 weeks not moving the leg and 6-8 weeks in plaster, his season is over. Fingers crossed all is ok with his recovery.

In the sun it said it was a clean break and surgery wansnt needed
