With Kent Kingsley struggling somewhat this season, I thought I'd tap into my creative side and come up with a song about the great man, inspired by one of my favourite all time groups, The Beatles. :)

"Kent Kingsley"
(to the tune of 'Let It Be' by The Beatles)

In times of major forward line trouble,
We need key forwards with ability,
So we drafted from North Melbourne,
Kent Kingsley

Kicked six goals in his first game with the Roos,
He had talent but no opportunities,
At Geelong he plays full forward,
Kent Kingsley

Kent Kingsley, Kent Kingsley,
Kent Kingsley, yeah Kent Kingsley,
Thompson's words of wisdom,
Kent Kingsley

Kent Kingsley, Kent Kingsley,
Kent Kingsley, yeah Kent Kingsley,
Could this guy be the answer,
Kent Kingsley

Last year our forward line looked much better,
We had a forward of some quality,
He almost won the goalkicking,
Kent Kingsley

But this year he's found things that much harder,
Struggling for consistency,
Now he's playing in the VFL,
Kent Kingsley

Kent Kingsley, Kent Kingsley,
Kent Kingsley, yeah Kent Kingsley,
Thompson's words of wisdom,
Kent Kingsley

Kent Kingsley, Kent Kingsley,
Kent Kingsley, yeah Kent Kingsley,
We still don't have the answer,
Kent Kingsley

I know there's a best post competition, but is there a worst post competition? That is WOEFUL.

The Beatles would be horrified...

If only I could write songs as good as The Beatles, I would be very rich and living in a palace somewhere. Oh well, as long as it's fun and not hurting anyone, I don't see any real problem with it, and like any song written by any artist, people will either like it or not like it, such is life.

The line "Thompson's words of wisdom" what are the actual words that you speak of? Are the words just Kent Kingsley?

I struggled to follow this and found it to be one of your poorer attempts at humour

Congratulations, you have graduated from the George Harrison songwriting school, taking from his song "I've got my mind set on you" which was then tributed by Weird Al "This song is only 10 words along".

Take out the 2 most overused words "Kent Kingsley" and there is not much to it.

Don't give up the day job, that stinks.

Here is my effort... (this song writing is so draining!)

It's to 'Enter Sandman' by Metallica, and is a tribute to Matt Scarlett.

Enter Scarlett
John Scarlett, John Scarlett,
Don't forget my son
Matt Scarlett.
Matt Scarlett, Scarlett
Til Matt Scarlett comes.

Sleep with one Matt Scarlett,
Gripping your Scarlett tight.

Matt:Scarlett
Matt: Scarlett
Matt Scar-lett
Scarlo, Matt Scarlett, Scarlo-land.

My effort...
"Steve McKee"
(to the tune of 'Let It Be' by The Beatles)

In times of major bigmen trouble,
We need some talls with ability,
So we drafted from Richmond,
Steve McKee

He started out at Punt Road,
Spud gave him no opportunities,
At Collingwood he plays in the ruck,
Steve McKee

Steve McKee, Steve McKee
Steve McKee, yeah Steve McKee,
Malthouse's words of wisdom,
Steve McKee

Steve McKee, Steve McKee
Steve McKee, yeah Steve McKee,
Could this guy be the answer,
Steve McKee

Last year we made the Grand Final,
We had a loose man in the backline,
He almost won a premiership medal,
Steve McKee

But this year he's found things that much harder,
He'd been dropped to Willy,
Now he's returned to the AFL,
Steve McKee

Steve McKee, Steve McKee
Steve McKee, yeah Steve McKee,
Malthouse's words of wisdom,
Steve McKee

Steve McKee, Steve McKee
Steve McKee, yeah Steve McKee,
The Stunner is the answer,
Steve McKee [/B]

You sure you tapped into the 'creative' side??

Anyway...

In times of major midfield line trouble,
We need someone with ability,
So we drafted him from Brisbane,
Shane Clayton

He's done f**k all,
He's done f**k all,
He's done f**k all,
Shane Clayton

Shane Clayton, Shane Clayton
Shane Clayton, yeah Shane Clayton
Playing in no position,
Shane Clayton

Shane Clayton, Shane Clayton
Shane Clayton, yeah Shane Clayton
Everyone knows he's done f**k all
Shane Clayton

Last year he did f**k all,
A midfielder with no quality,
He almost won nothing,
Shane Clayton

This year he's done f**k all
Still he gets in the team
Someone send him to Port Melbourne
Shane Clayton

Shane Clayton, Shane Clayton
Shane Clayton, yeah Shane Clayton
Playing in no position,
Shane Clayton

Shane Clayton, Shane Clayton
Shane Clayton, yeah Shane Clayton
Everyone knows he's done f**k all
Shane Clayton

This is SO easy. Just put a players name in repetitively, and whammo, you're a comical genius.

Tom Lonergan to the tune of Bon Jovi's Bad Medicine
I ain't got a fever got a permanent disease
It'll take more than a doctor to prescribe a remedy
I got lots of money but it isn't what I need
Gonna take more than a shot to get this poison out of me
I got all the symptoms count 'em 1,2,3

First I need
That's what you get for falling in love
Then you bleed
You get a little but it's never enough
On your knees
That's what you get for falling in love
And now this boy's addicted cause your kiss is the drug

Your love is like Tom Lonergan
Tom Lonergan is what I need
Shake it up, just like Tom Lonergan
There ain't no doctor that can
Cure my disease

Tom, Tom Lonergan
Tom, Tom Lonergan

I don't need no needle
To be diving me a thrill
And I don't need no anesthesia
Or a nurse to bring a pill
I got a dirty down addition
It doesn't leave a track
I got a jone for your affection
Like a money on my back

There ain't no paramedic
Gonna save this heart attack

When you need
That's what you get for falling in love
Then you bleed
You get a little but it's never enough
On your knees
That's what you get for falling in love
Now I'm addicted and your kiss is the drug

Your love is like Tom Lonergan
Tom Lonergan is what I need
Shake it up, just like Tom Lonergan
So let's play doctor, baby
Cure my disease

Tom, Tom Lonergan
Tom, Tom Lonergan

Solo

I need a respirator cause I'm running out of breath
You're an all night generator wrapped is stockings and a dress
When you find your medicine you take what you can get
Cause if there's something better baby well thay haven't found it yet

Your love is like Tom Lonergan
Tom Lonergan is what I need
Shake it up, just like Tom Lonergan
There ain't no doctor that can
Cure my disease

Your love is like Tom Lonergan
Tom Lonergan is what I need
Shake it up, just like Tom Lonergan
Your love's the potion that
Can cure my disease

Tom, Tom Lonergan
Tom, Tom Lonergan

"Shannon Watt at Full Back"

To the tune of Ciggarettes and Alcohol by Oasis

Is it my imagination
Or have I finally found something worth living for?
I was looking for some action
But all I found was Shannon Watt at Full Back

You could wait for a lifetime
To spend your days with Mick Martyn!
You might as well do the white line
Cos when it comes on top...

His man is gonna kick ten!

Is it worth the aggravation
To find yourself a job when there's nothing worth working for?
It's a crazy situation
But all I need is Shannon Watt at Full Back!

You could wait for a lifetime
To spend your days with Mick Martyn
You might as well do the white line
Cos when it comes on top...

His man is gonna kick ten!

Blame It On The Bomber

My baby's always dancin'
And it wouldn't be a bad thing
But I don't get no loving
And thats no lie

We spent the night in Frisco
At every kind of disco
From that night I kissed
Our love goodbye

Chorus:
Don't blame it on Grgic
Don't blame it on McCarthy
Don't blame it on Kingsley
Blame it on the Bomber

Don't blame it on Foster
Don't blame it on Clarkey
Don't blame it on Whitey
Blame it on the Bomber

The nasty Bomber bugs me
But somehow it has drugged me
Spellbound rhythem get me
On my feet

I've changed my life completely
I've seen the lightning leave me
My baby just can't take
Her eyes off me

Chorus:
Don't blame it on Grgic
Don't blame it on McCarthy
Don't blame it on Kingsley
Blame it on the Bomber

Don't blame it on Foster
Don't blame it on Clarkey
Don't blame it on Whitey
Blame it on the Bomber

I just can't
I just can't
I just can't control my temper

I just can't
I just can't
I just can't control my temper

Chorus:
Don't blame it on Grgic
Don't blame it on McCarthy
Don't blame it on Kingsley
Blame it on the Bomber

Don't blame it on Foster
Don't blame it on Clarkey
Don't blame it on Whitey
Blame it on the Bomber

The magic music grooves me
The dirty rhythm moves me
The devil's gotten to me
Through his dance

I'm full of funky fever
And fire burns inside me
Boogies got me in a
Super trance

Chorus:
Don't blame it on Grgic
Don't blame it on McCarthy
Don't blame it on Kingsley
Blame it on the Bomber

Don't blame it on Foster
Don't blame it on Clarkey
Don't blame it on Whitey
Blame it on the Bomber

Grgic
McCarthy
Kingsley
Bomber

Foster
Clarkey
Whitey
Bomber

Don't you blame it
You just got to
You just want to
Yea-
Blame it on yourself
Ain't nobody's fault
But yours and that Bomber
Dancin' all night long

Yours and that Bomber
Ain't nobody's fault
But yours
Dancin' all night long
