  • CARLTON has emerged as a leading contender to snare West Coast's Daniel Kerr, but Sydney and Port Adelaide are also still in the hunt.
Kerr, who is in Melbourne for promotional appearances at today's Grand Final, is believed to be talking with the Blues.
Blues insiders have indicated there is enough room in the salary cap to lure Kerr to Princes Park.
His preference is a long-term deal with West Coast.
The Swans are prepared to offer the star midfielder a five-year deal.
"I imagine we would be getting it done in the next week or so, and hopefully we can say it is all over and I am going to stay with the Eagles," Kerr told a Perth radio station.
"I would like to see out my career as an Eagle, and that's why I'm seeking a longer contract."

Everyone lay of Jimmy Wilson he's a gun, if there is anyone who is a media Carlton fan and a knob, it's Andy '4-eye's Maher, can't stand that twerp ..

You can keep ur pick 6 if thats all u offer for Kerr.

He might not of had the best season but imagine what damage he would cause with Judd, Stevo, Gibbs and Murph

I think its safer for the other 15 clubs if WC keep Kerr.

Thinking about the possibility of Kerr being in our team gets me more up and then when Gary Lyon interviewed Judd.

If we got another prominent forward and an experienced back to help our already young strong back half, we will be dominant with a midfield of Judd Kerr Murphy Stevens and Gibbs. Holy

I'm loving it!!! Just makes the rest of the clubs hate us more an more AGAIN lol

Not sure about hate.. but we might laugh if you get Kerr and still don't make the finals

Update: Kerr just gave Carlton as his preference on AFL game day if negotiations with WC break down

Well, I wouldn't say that he picked us as his "preference", but he did say that playing with Juddy again would be great

You gotta read between the lines, if you weren't his preference he wouldn't have made that comment.. I thought it was pretty obvious

;) Can't see him moving anywhere tbh. Will stay an eagle imo.

This is turning into a circus. This can't come to a conclusion quick enough for my liking.

It's insane at the moment. Trade month (well i guess you could call it that with all the pre-hype!) is getting more and more crazy each year!

Kerr was at a Carlton function last night with Judd, Swann and Icke. I was there too :D

What is going on!

he offically said that if it doesn't work out with the eagles, he would love to play with his best mate chris judd :D

I actually made a comment on here during the season when some were questioning Juddy's true value to us and whether we had got ripped off with dealing with the Eagles, My comment was along the lines of,"Juddy's true value will be measured at seasons end if we can lure another big name to the club that wishes to play along side him" and if we can get Kerr then maybe we can start to measure how succesful the Judd trade was and will be especially if we can convert it into a flag in the next few years.

I certainly hope we can get Kerr at a reasonable price but failing that I am sure that the reason Warnock has signalled his intention to play with Carlton has a Judd influence also, what up and coming Ruckman wouldn't want to play around Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Stevens etc as this combination will make Warnock look a whole lot better and ensure he is rewarded and viewed very well throughout his career.

Two weeks........just two more weeks.

This is a strange situation - it's almost as though the Weagles want to trade Kerr more than Kerr wants to leave them. Without doubt the future limited access to the AFL draft is playing on the Weagles minds, and they know they'll get less for him next year, especially if he's out of contract. It really doesn't matter who Kerr nominates in this situation. He is still in contract, and the Weagles can offer it to the highest bidder, and there'll be plenty of Clubs that will offer the Weagles more draft picks than the Blues. :)

Contract negotiations always involve being linked to other clubs..........J Brown and the PIes......Fev and the swans etc.

Brings pressure onto one of either party.

Kerr will stay at WCE - 4 + 1 IMO.
