Iknow its early days, but Kieren Jack is showing a lot of Paul Kelly traits.
And in my opinion, he has all it takes to be a future captain, and leader to take
us forward!

There was another thread on this recently but it can't be said enough, Kieran Jack will be captain of the Sydney Swans.

I can distinctly remember on a few threads last year when Swans people were talking up our young guys as having us in good stead for the future and i can remember many not only saying it was ridiculous that our club could possibly have decent young talent but also scoffed at us talking up Kieren as being a potential star of the comp...would love to find some of those threads for proof.

While I always thought Jack would be a handy senior player I have to admit I had him pegged as a bit of an average contributor in the Amon Buchanon mould and thought Bird would be the better of the two players (still have high hopes for Bird).

Very, very happy to be proven wrong. Jack is the new 'heart and soul' of our team when Kirk retires.

Anyone see Stuey Maxfield give him a bake for not centering the ball when he kicked that goal against Brisbane?

Yeh i saw that. Gave him a nice ol' spray didn't he. Especially after such a nice goal. The centre was on though.

Maxfield is great to have around, so happy he's been kept on for so long.

LOL has anyone contacted him about this? I can imagine him making the news for doing that

I mentioned it on his user profile last week, he was a good sport at least but I don't expect him to be hanging his arse out any windows. Which is probably a good thing

I know you're talking about leadership qualities but in physical size he's almost identical to Paul Kelly. Mind you where Kels was all arms and legs Jack is more squat in his stance, seemingly more powerful. He's got a bit of Brent Harvey when going for goal. Watch how he breaks a pack, takes 5 or 6 rapid tiny steps to steady and shoots from the hip. He's also got a bit of Gary Jnr's manner, his alertness around packs, his creativity and ability to thread through traffic. Funnily enough he's halfway between the two in size (which backs up my Gary Jnr - Harvey love child theory)

I love watching him play as I like watching Ablett and Harvey too, but Jack (like Kels) is ours, he's a Swannee, and that's just a real good buzz.

Ablett 182cm 88kg
Kelly 179cm 83kg
Jack 177cm 81kg
Harvey 172cm 75kg

but, are they accurate? Does it matter? Jack, like Kelly and Harvey, will live, breathe, live for their club, and see out their football life with the club that gave them the chance..um..Junior? er..ahh..jeez, I like to think he is foxing, but, umm

Gonna be crowded with Jack, Hannerbery and Bird all being touted as "future captains" at different stages\by different people.

..smith, malceski, mcveigh, rok, etc etc

20 co-captains anyone? (minus perennial whipping boys ted richards and bevan)

I reckon Kieran Jack is a better shot at goal than Kelly was.

I've been commenting on how Jack's been in my top 5 favourite current Swans players all year... In the last month he's in my top 3. Kirky, Goodes, Jack. And I'm dead certain, if he remains a swan for his career, he will be in my top 3 of all time by the looks of him. I just love the way he goes about it all. He deserves every award and honor that is bestowed on him this year. Fantastic kid, with amazing class, determination and commitment... So bloody happy with him (and the team) right now. Was expecting far far far less this year and they (yet again) have proven my initial predictions wrong... None more so than this future captain in one Mr. K. Jack... Go the bloods! :D:thumbsu:

I'm in such a good mood right now...

Does anyone know anything about Kierans brother? I remember reading somewhere that his brother was drawing some interest and was aiming to play AFL with his brother in the future.

Edit: Just saw that picture from SouthSwans he is an absolute legend! :)

aww cute! What a great guy as well as a great player.

Great bloke, and the reason why he's definitely my favourite player at the Swans at the moment.
