The initial control set up looks sh!t, much as Resistance is. I re-mapped the entire Resistance button config.

Having said that, when there is the ability to customise, it's pretty pointless ranting about it on a blog
Plus if you look at the picture, that is Alternative #2. When I played it, the controls were a lot different and a lot better than in the Alternative #2 picture.

What an idiot.
 
He has a point.
If you can't change the toggle for zoom or crouch, then it's going to suck ass.

I can live with the crouch, but zoom being an on/off thing and not a hold to use item is pretty baffling.

Heaps of games are done that way, like clicking the right thumbstick to zoom and clicking again to unzoom
 
True...but i must say i prefer the hold option, ala COD4 and Far Cry

That's what I was bitching about with Resistance (i.e. it's a click and you're zoomed with no animation and unclick to zoom out again no animation), but I got told it was a lame deal breaker :p

Nah, in all seriousness, I agree. I love using the left trigger to zoom and let go to unzoom, best way to do it

After playing CoD4 for a few months, I went back to Resistance but could only play for like 10 minutes because of the click on-click off zoom rubbish.
Everyone should just copy CoD4's control scheme, just like Resistance 2. It's absolute perfection.

This controller looks pretty nice for FPS. It has fans in the handles to cool your hands and stop you from sweating + it has concave joy-sticks. The only bad thing is that it is a wired controller. Obviously due to the fans chewing threw the energy.

Can't understand why the PS3 has convex thumbsticks, concave is so much easier to use

Yes, resistances zoom is annoying
 
i can't believe they don't have an option for both hold for zoom which goes away as soon as you let go or the click on click off method....

fps's are games where milliseconds are absolutely crucial and that time it takes to click is definitely costly when the enemy pops right in your face

The thing is that you probably won't be needing to use the zoom all the time as in games like COD, you will probably only need it in a long shot type situation as you will be using you hip fire more than zoom fire.

Although I would say that if there is enough backlash it would be patched in.

the thing is i barely use the zoom in cod4 either...but the way it's set up if i need to quickly take it off to hip shoot at some jerk right near me i can do it instantly without having to press a button to get out of an animation just to do it

click on/click off is terrible and i doubt i will ever be fully happy with this game if it really ends up without the option to change it
 
Meh its not really an issue... The only online game where I felt you REALLY needed to zoom to be successful are The Battlefield series.

Quake Wars was a bit iffy, in that you didn't need to zoom if you could hit their head consistently, you would be fine, because anyone who has played it knows it virtually useless just aiming for their body.

Unless of course you are a pussy sniper :p

I am an adaptive player though, can basically do well with most FPS types, might never be able to master all of them, but I am usually far from the worst.

So either way it won't really bother me.

Resistance was so fast it was death to zoom in half the time (On the small, open maps especially)

God I hated killing a bloke only for him to spawn behind me for an easy kill.

Same issue with R2... But at least the levels are generally better.

True, and the aiming once zoomed was on the slow side.

But in a sense COD 4 was just as fast paced and boxed in, especially shipment.

I don't think it will end up being a big deal.

That sucked, made me stray away from the game for a few days(especially with the Bus Yard), luckily it was fixed up a bit.
