Hey what do you guys think of him, i know he had a bad year but i don't think he's that bad, if we chuck him in the forward line with richo and shultz man that sound like a realy strong forward line to me.

had a couple of good games early (NAB and round 2) then lost form and confidence hopefully with change of environment gives you guys some value. Was our leading goal kicker for years with no kpp support and some of the supporters here seem to have forgotten that. Can drop easy marks and miss easy goals is the main down side but as 3rd forward his size and speed will cause matchup problems for a lot of sides.

Once upon a time ... but our mate, Kent, refused to go for the ball - and unless it was straight to him or out in front, he would give up - infuriating, sulky, dummy-spitting stuff. Plough may well pull him into line. Bomber couldn't or wouldn't - too close to him personally from N.Melb days.

Kingsley's record stands up quite well for a guy who was never big enough to play in a KP. He has topped our goal kicking four times and has always managed to be reasonably consistent about his output...until this season.

There has been rumour and speculation as to why that is the case....but he had a poor 2006 nonetheless. He did ok in the VFL side kicking 30 odd goals but whenever he was elevated to the seniors he didnt contribute.

It was also the first season he suffered a 'serious' injury...which was a hammy...which seemed to do nothing for his confidence.

I think he is past his best and his best was quite good but on a given day could still be a good contributor...just dont expect him to be consistent, its not going to happen, so that makes him difficult to select. As the third or fourth forward option you will find him struggling to fit into your structure particularly now with Nathan Brown expected to get more game time next year. As a flanker if he losses the first contest he doesnt fight well for the ball and he is not reknowned for his chasing. He is a one lead...one grab...kick goal...player who used to win more of the football than he does around the forward line now.

He actually needs to be the KP forward to get those sort of numbers up in his goal tallies, otherwise you will be relying on parts of his game that are not his strengths. If he plays full forward Richmond wont make the 8. Catch 22

He'll kick 7 against us

I just have a bad feeling (obviously not on Scarlett though)

That is where the change of scene might come into it. I assume for them to have picked him he must be training his ass off which would be a good start to re-discovering some goal kicking form.

I actually think the Tiges have done reasonably well. He's cost them nothing and they've picked him up after they've secured their main priorities. I think he's only 26 so there's a few years left in him. And as the 3rd or 4th ranked forward he could do quite a bit of damage. Goal kickers are hard to find and he has ability.

Haven't forgotten that he was our leading goalkicker - but 2 of those 4 years he was under 50 goals which for a full forward is just not good enough. He does have skill, but also has no heart, persistence or courage. Cannot mark over his head. Cannot mark in front of his face. Kicking for goal (without any obvious technical flaw) is atrocious. Disappears under any pressure.

Please, please play him full forward against us so Scarlett gets him. Please.

I always thought he was a pretty good lead to the ball and could take a mark. The only thing that let him down was his kicking for goals. Maybe a new club can help change the mental attitude that has been a problem for him. But his kicking under pressure when it really counts will always let him down. I wish him luck but he is now an opposition player so I don't care if he kicks the house down for the tiges or fails again.

When the tiges play us I wouldn't count on Scarlett initially lining up on him, a 3rd tier forward player. He may get Hunt or Milburn though.

I just remember one of his kicks in the VFL this season at SS. It was the worst shot at goal I have EVER seen. Worse than my mum would be at goal (now thats bad)!!! He was on a bit of an angle about 30-40 meters out in practically perfect conditions. He kicked it into the stands on the full. LMAO The whole crowd was laughing... it was funny... but I felt slightly sorry for him (which is possibly the only time I ever have).

Have fun at Richmond Kent! ;)

Richo and browny are much prefered forwards than kingsley, even shultz would be above him, i just thought as a 4th forward option he was a great pick up,

In one of the pockets where there isn't to much pressure he could be very valuble.

I'd say that's a fair call.

The great man in KK looked like a deer in headlights at times with Geelong, but i wish him all the best at the RFC. IMO he has to have some talent to play 1 AFL game, let alone 100+ so good luck to him.

Kingsley is the text book definition of a confidence player. If he slots his first shot of the day, he'll generally have a good game, but if he misses then all bets are off.

That said I think KK will do alright at Richmond. With Richo, Brown and Sgt Schulz up forward, KK won't be the number one forward. As a third string forward he could be quite handy, though I wouldn't be expecting his kicking, marking or courage to suddenly improve if I was a Richmond fan.
Hopefully he does well... but not too well, natch!

I look forward to another disappointed KPP going the point... especially for Richmond.

This is a myth.
Kingsley is taller and heavier then Matthew LLoyd.

Its only in recent times Kent has really bulked up to that size (not height wise of course)...he was smaller between 2002-2004 when he played most of his best footy.

Also, there have been many players who have had the same dimensions or bigger than Wayne Carey...does that mean they are all going to play the same way?

Kent isnt much chop bustling or one on one....leading and running guys under the footy and pushing guys forward when they are under the ball is Kent's go. Lloyd can do all the heavier type work you expect from a KP player.

Kent doesnt play like a classical KP forward. Dont get me wrong I am not bagging kent...I quite liked him in his prime at Geelong...but trying to compare him to firstly Ottens and now LLoyd is absolute rubbish...

Lloyd has guys looking over their shoulder when they run near the ball...he bumps and really attacks the ball and the player... thats what you need your bigger guys to do, I know some people call LLoyd a stager but he really hurts people on the footy field...Kent simply doesnt play this way...there is more to it than just stats...

I accept the fact that I didnt word it correctly though...I should have phrased it differently..

Kingsley and Richo together. Has there ever been a forward combination you'd like to have taking set shots from 15 metres out rather than 50 on a tight angle? Hope tiger fans are ready for 11.23 (89) type scorelines.

The safest place to sit at Richmond games will be right behind the Richmond goals. There's not a hope in hell that you'll get hit by the ball with those 2 having a shot at goal.

:p

You seriously think the Richmond midfield will get the ball to them that many times in four quarters?

I think Kent is 28. As a fourth option up forward he'll be more than decent I think, will certainly provide problems for whoever the opposition matches up on him as he has had a lot of experience playing against other teams best defenders as the Cats FF. He is damaging when he is in form but can miss easy goals, I'm sure the Tiger fans will become as familiar with his kicking action as we were.

That's the whole frustration though - there is nothing wrong with his kicking style. He can kick 50m comfortably and accurately when in form. He's not like say McCarthy who had an appalling kicking technique, so the explanation why he's so erratic has to be between the shoulders.
