Hey Knightmare,

Where do you have Kelly and Quaynor on ur draft rankings? Where do you expect bids to come through?

Collingwood has approximately 1215 points this year, equating to approximately pick 13, would that be enough for both Kelly and Quaynor without going into deficits?

Also what are some pros and cons of Kelly and Quaynor?

Thanks

Hi Knightmare,

Just wondering if there were any picks that performed strongly last year that might be available at 20 and 22 as eagles usually draft players that have strong underage years. Any chance of Stocker or anything of top quality sliding here?

Pretty sure he doesn't rate either player particularly highly, certainly not first round.

In my phantom draft I see a bid for Quaynor coming 12-25. Kelly more likely the 30s or 40s.

In my power rankings? I don't have either high enough where I'd consider taking them. Including mature agers, neither make my top 50 though Quaynor is on that fringe.

I personally rate Atu ahead of both - though he's also just outside at 51 in my power rankings.

Hi Knightmare,

Just wondering if there were any picks that performed strongly last year that might be available at 20 and 22 as eagles usually draft players that have strong underage years. Any chance of Stocker or anything of top quality sliding here?

I see 20 and 22 good spots to have picks. Stocker should go in the teens, but you just never know.

Ian Hill should immediately come to mind as one of those who was great as an underager. Bailey Williams and Ned McHenry are others.

who should freo take with their picks ?

Xavier Duursma, Sydney Stack, Noah Gown, Mitch Maguire and Mitch Grigg would be roughly the players I'd be going after based on who may be there and who I view as best available at each pick.

So which inside mid do Richmond draft with there first two picks?

Liam Stocker or Chayce Jones at 17 might be among Richmond's preferences. Maybe an Ely Smith if determined to go inside mid if they're not available.

At 37 a Sam Fletcher could represent strong value.

Hi Knightmare – who should WC take at 20 and 22, assuming they're looking for best available midfielders and/or WA sliders?

I can't go past Sydney Stack as a local midfielder with x-factor (though trading for a pick in the 30s may be a better option as he is likely to still be available at that point).

Luke Valente is another I like with one of those picks. If I can get a slider at 20 I would, if no notable sliders Ely Smith is a good option.

Will a Bedford bid come after 28?

It's possible a bid comes earlier but I expect a bid in the 30s is more likely.

Will a Bedford bid come after 28?

probably, seeing as he averages under 14 poss a game and kicked 7.9 this season, dont get me wrong, i think he has a lot of talent with his elite speed and pressure ability, but his production at TAC Cup has not been outstanding, not outstanding enough to go 1st or 2nd round in this years draft anyway, i would think.

So just how does this pick trading work before the draft? As an example can West Coast go and ask the Western Bulldogs to trade Picks 32 and 45 for West Coast pick 22 and if the Bulldogs accept then it happens before or during the draft?

Clubs can trade picks through to mid November (16th maybe?) and then again on the night itself.

Do you rate Shiel much higher then neale ?
You said steep price (pick 6 and 19) for Neale and pick 30.

And unders (pick 9 and future first) for Shiel and future second. ?

I rate them similarly. I'd take Shiel if given the choice as he is a better all-around player.

The key that makes the Shiel trade better value is for Neale pick 6 needed to be given up. Pick 6 is a sweet spot in this draft. Pick 6 could = Bailey Smith who I believe has the scope to be as good or better than Shiel/Neale.

Pick 9 by contrast this year is after that high end group and not all that much better than a pick in the late teens.

Hi Knightmare, who do you see Port draft at 10 and 15? any chance one of the top 8 might slide to 10?

At 10 or 15 I see Xavier Duursma receiving consideration from Port as someone who could replace Polec. Riley Collier-Dawkins, Zak Butters and Sam Sturt are others I see Port considering with those picks.

It's pick exchanges only. So the exchanging of picks such as your example is fine during the pick change period and during the draft.

Hey KM. How does this years top 5 stack up against last years? Would luko, rankine, walsh all go before raynor?

Also, Are there any lachie whitfield types in this draft?

This years top 5 may be the best there has ever been. It's the best top 5 I've seen.

Sam Walsh is the Lachie Whitfield equivalent as that high endurance accumulator type and comparable capabilities.

Lukosius/Rankine/Smith I would have picked ahead of Rayner. Walsh I'd have roughly on parr with Rayner in my own rankings.

Walsh and Lukosius are the two in reality who would have been chosen ahead of Rayner with Rankine/M.King in that conversation depending on need/preference if in last years pool.

Can someone tell me why the matches from the under 18 champs are nowhere to be found online ?

If I'm missing them can someone link me...

You mentioned Walsh twice. That top-5 is likely to all fit inside the top 6. From there the question is whether Smith or B.King join. One or the other probably makes it through to 7. So it is a sweet spot in the draft, but other clubs know it also.
Interesting read catching up on the past few weeks. Everyone is talking about the top 7 players (excluding Blakey) being a clear level above the rest in this draft. How confident are you that those player will go in the first 7 picks? If one or a few of them were to drop lower than that, who would be most likely to do so and who are the players most likely to push into the first 7 picks?

It would be interesting to see what the Bulldogs would do if Ben King is the last of the top 7 available at their pick given the young talls that the already have on their list.

I assume we'd take him but you're right in saying he's not really a need. Although with Adams gone he is moreso than he was last week.

Decent article, thought we deserved higher since we retained Gaff.

But please update the WCE logo. Show some respect for your Premiers!

Agreed with Lions as a C, but could even be a D, given they swapped premium MIDs and swamped pick 5 for 18. Not smart trading IMO.

I don't think Essendon are an A. B seems more appropriate given they did give up 2x 1st rounders for Shiel.

Cats a B. They signed a premium free agent but didn't do much else to warrant an A.

Suns are the interesting one. I'm not sure you can mark then as an E. They lost Lynch through free agency which isn't really a trade. Hall was being delisted by all accounts, so something better than nothing. Scrimshaw has achieved nothing but being drafted in the top 10, getting rid of him is probably under value but they aren't even losing a fringe player with him going. The only questionable one was May. Now I get they wanted him to commit longer term, but frankly that's unrealistic to expect that from someone on the verge of free agency given their clubs position. He would've certainly been a 1st round compo pick which is likely to be pick 2 or 3 next year, so losing him for 6 and then losing KK as well isn't ideal. Having said that they got Corbett, Hombsch & Collins. D grade for me, but they filled key positions well.

Giants for me get a D too. Yes, they lost some big names, but Lobb isn't a ruck and he's not a great FWD. If Scully's injury is that bad, the Giants offloaing is a solid move for salary cap next season. If he goes on to play like Burgoyne, then it's probably a move. Only loss is Setterfield fox mix.

Hawks are a C, not A. They got Wingard but have up Burton and 15. Big price given what Burton has done and Wingard form over the last 2 years. Scully is still injured and only a name until he gets on the park again.

I think North deserve an A. They got outside runners they need effect though they missed Gaff they had other plans and got them done early.

Tigers are a C. We got Lynch by didn't shake anything in trade week. An A would've been getting in another midfielder like Tyson for depth to replace the guys leaving. Very thin in the middle now.

Not sure where I see the saints. Hannebery was a good player, but he's been injured and under performing for a couple of years. He's certainly not a premium midfielder anymore.

Dogs are an E for mine. Not active enough and lost quality.
