I'm not Koby Stevens' biggest fan, but I can appreciate the value he'd hold to any team in need of a solid young inside mid capable of a decade of service (which I'd imagine is most teams). He's not particularity quick or skillful, but he's strong, versatile, a good size and a decent overhead. Not to mention his cleanness in congestion. I'm personally annoyed with how he's been managed, but our midfield lineup is notoriously inflexible and spots only become available due to injuries/suspensions.

I'd be surprised if we're offered anything within the top 30 for him though. At this pick he'd be an absolute bargain. Perhaps even more so than Ebert to Port last year. You think we would've learned after that episode

I personally would look at a direct swap with a young West Australian. Myers or Lucas?
Why would we trade Myers someone who has shown he can be a very good inside mid and has play some great games at afl level but had injury concerns for someone who has shown nothing at afl level and has injury concerns not going to happen. As I state early I'm not really interested but I think the most a team will pay is a 3rd rounder.

Would much rather keep him or let him walk, we have no need for a 3rd rounder, would be more likely for us to upgrade picks we currently hold or something similar. Also, believe it or not, there will be several Vic clubs interested, and as such this should drive his price up a little.

I hope he stays, I rate the kid and he could seriously be a gun. With Kerr, Priddis, Adam Selwood etc all getting on, we need players that can come in and have immediate impact.

EDIT: Check out this thread: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/free-agency-out-of-contract-trade-bait-approach.955530/ Hawks, Richmond, North, Essendon and Melbourne posters all have Stevens in their lists and the thread is so far only three pages long.

Charity?

Stevens is the type of player that you know will come good as soon as you trade him.
My gut feeling is that next year is his year (isn't it always) and that we'd get much more trading him at the end of 2013 than we would now (but, if he was getting a regular gig he wouldn't want to go).
An early third rounder is likely all we'll be offered ATM, unfortunately.

Would west coast take a straight swap koby for either reimers or jetta ?

Koby Stevens reminds me of Tom Hislop for some reason.
Lots of potential and thats about it.

Do you have to bring that name up? Do you know how long I was waiting for him to be injury free so we could finally see his bloody potential

as pointed out, you'd be no chance to get Myers, particularly in a straight swap. Myers is considered best 22 by the coaches and plays unless he's injured. Not to mention he was a much higher draft pick who has actually played a relatively lot of games, on merit; as compared to Stevens, a late teens pick who hasn't been able to play virtually any AFL. Classes apart really.

The differences between them is moderate now but won't be in the future.
Such a deal would only transpire if both players wanted to go home and, even then, we'd perhaps have to trade our 2nd round pick as well.
I'd be perfectly happy with such a deal but if Stevens decides that he can be patient in the West I am satisfied that he will start delivering.

The Fact, doesn't have a clue. A third round selection is 40+ in 2012.

Koby is a good chance of making the grade, guys going 40+ in this draft are speculative picks.

And Myers is 24 next year and relatively uncapped, with average exposed AFL form. He's worth a "little" more than Koby.

Look I can't be bothered getting in a mud throwing match but it's pretty clear Myers is worth alot more than Stevens and as I have stated earlier Stevens is really setting the 2's alight either and has a few big flaws in his game eg speed and disposal. Also there has been alot better players go for the same eg houli for one although he walk, all that was offered was a 3rd rounder. I know it's disappointing sometimes and if i was u guys I would hold onto him as its the same with gumby but u he wants to leave no team will offer a 2nd rounder because I really can't see teams getting into a bidding war for him sorry

If 4+ teams want him you can't see a bidding war? Mmmmkay.

Incidentally Myer's flaws as well.

Am I right in saying he wanted to leave at the end of last season simply due to the lack of opportunity?
Is he looking to leave again?

All reports lead to yes, and remains unsigned. Has been playing very well in the WAFL but with Priddis, Kerr, Selwood and Shuey, can't break into our midfield rotation. Has all the tools to be an excellent AFL footballer, just needs a few consecutive games to put it all together imo.

Speculation but it would make sense.
However, a spot would be available when he performs at AFL level.
That means that he does know that he will be getting chances at WC in the future.
So it's not as though he will not break into the WC team and his chances going ahead are bad.
Hence, why it is mostly speculation based on the rational that he could perhaps get a game playing for someone else (incidentally in his home state).

What is with Tiger fans trying to offload McGuane every chance they get? :D Most of the trades I read involve him at some stage.

I lol'd at this.

WAFL form has been solid to good but has been unable to step up to AFL tempo so far. Can find the footy and has a penetrating kick although not necessarily accurate. Not fast and looks borderline slow at times. Not sure he would be willing to move to the Gold Coast but wouldn't be a bad pickup for you guys because he is a big unit for a midfielder.

Is he a WA boy? I would have thought he'd be keen to get more opportunities unless he doesn't want to move away from family?

Wouldn't mind having him at Richmond as we need a long term successor to Tuck and someone to pressure Jackson's spot in the side. What would WC be looking for (any particular positions or picks?)

Do I need to spell it out for u. While a couple of team might be interested in getting him on the cheap I doubt teams are going to be fighting tooth and nail to get him eg if tigers offer their 3rd rounder I highly doubt essendon or Melbourne will start throwing their 2nd rounder in hence meaning there will be no bidding war simple real r-****.
Also replying to another post while Myers pace is poor his disposal is noT unlike Stevens.
