The way i see it

Was pick 23 in a fairly weak draft year.

Could have only gone one way with no effect at AFL level and yet to prove himself

However has performed strongly for 2 years at WAFL level with a top 4-5 in sandover last year.

Value: Pick 30-35

Because he wants out and is out of contract and in a draft year considered to have quite some depth ala "super draft"

Value: Pick 40-50

The main difference is Ebert has nearly 100 games of AFL development while Koby has only played a handful of games. Koby has slightly better skills, similar pace, but Ebert shows better leadership and probably has a bigger tank.

You're kidding right?

When Stevens extends out of a jog his kicking turns to shit.

I'm not sure he's got the tools to play AFL.

This isn't a god damn super draft.

Yeh i agree the draft is quite overrated but it certainly has been staked as the superdraft by a few experts/recruiters ect. I think the draft was expecte to be stronger this time last year than what it is now. Stringer, Menzel had some injuries. Garlett has continued to have off field problems. S.Taylor,J.Simpson have dropped off. Mayes looks like that player that can struggle when he has an opponent follow him and quite a few seem like they are undersized and a bit skinny. However i think people would prefer players like Pongracic, Carter, Colquoun, graham at 25-40 instead of K.Stevens.

Eagles will probably look at a swap with Essendon's Howlett ( from WA ) , we were keen in the rookie draft on Howlett originally

Thats not far off the truth and yet his skills remain better than Brad Ebert.

Brad Ebert is quicker, I better kick, a better mark and plays within his limitations.

Stevens plays as though he's a ball carrier, he's not.

He should stick to getting the hands out from congestion, he does himself no favours when he tries to carry the ball then pick someone out.

Not a better kick, sorry Pav. Pace is about the same.

Wha wha whyyy the hell would we look at that?
Trade a known solid-to-good thing - for someone that might be better than terrible, or might not.

I'd look at trading Stevens for Reimers, Baguley or Lee; but that'd be about it. 10 bog-average games in 3 years is just a very poor record; no two ways about it.

inb4 he has 6 clearances, 7 tackles & 7 inside 50s in a 40-point thrashing of a side he "wouldn't get a game at". No, wait, that's already happened.

I'm curious as to who he would to displace. Essendon and WC are at different stages of their development. Brad Ebert is far more talented and was on the outer.

Normally you've got 2-3 of McGinnity/Butler/Swift/Shepheard playing - he'd be ahead of them & pretty close to A Selwood IMHO.

Yeah, they've all got different roles so there'd be some adjustments/swapping required, but the crux of it is Howlett has improved into a very good footballer in his own right this year.
Wins plenty of clearances, tackles like mad, and helps out on the run & carry side of things too.

Of course, "herp derp rookie = spud" is alive & well.
