1. He's out of contract?

2. They've played him in the reserves for 2 straight years, despite reasonable form....

3. He's Victorian, more than likely wanting to come home.

The Eagles will get what they are given.

A 3rd rounder I suspect. Any talk of 1st round upgrades ontop of second round picks is ridiculous.

He can quite easily get to Melbourne via the PSD.

Obviously I meant ideal from our point of view ;)

If there's a few clubs in Victoria interested then it's a seller's market again.

If Geelong offer pick 36, Roos offer pick 35, Geelong offer 15 and 36 for 17, Roos offer 14 and 35 for 17.

That's the dream anyway

I'm not with any AFL clubs football department, but I would be extremely surprised if that occurred given the relevant assembled data.

Eagles are pretty keen to keep Stevens , so we wont let him go easily plus Stevens loves it at WCE and will do what is best for him and West Coast , he probably wont stay at WCE now , unless the coaches can convince him that West is best on Monday !

Except if another team (he is happy to go to) offers more...

I think he will go for something between the low thirties and mid fourties FWIW.

And you honestly think there will be a bidding war over him?

Talk of "we won't let him go easily", "anything after pick 30 and we are getting bent over" is ridiculous.

The notion that he has almost retained his value, despite 2 years of minimal senior football, and a history of OP is laughable.

West Coast will bite Geelong or North's hand off if our second rounders are on the table.

It's not to dissimilar to when JP Kennedy was traded from Hawthorn. They had salary cap problems, Koby is disgruntled and out of contract, the value will be similar.

If he nominates a particular team who say offers pick 40, if another team offers pick 38, but he doesn't want to go there, WC are not going to bother with that, he's been on the list for a while now so they will just trade him to wherever he wants to go.

I think more than one team will be interested. But decently has lost value as I said (was pick 23).

We don't want him to go, but we won't have any choice.

I won't be complaining if we get your second round pick, assuming he decides to leave. Below 40 I'll be disappointed. Below 45 I think is a bad result for us.

Don't think he really suits North though. He could be a cheap option for those who miss out on Caddy.

It's not too dissimilar to when Daniel McConnell was traded from West Coast. He was a big-bodied inside mid who hadn't played much at senior level for various reasons, and wanted to go home. The value will be similar - from memory we got a second rounder and an upgrade on the first round ;)

I agree. That's what my post said (or meant to say).

It is dissimilar.

Dean Laidley isn't in charge of list management.

Sorry.

As has been said, he will nominate a Victorian club, West Coast will accept their early third round pick/second round pick with some pick shuffling.

Done.

You don't visit the trade board very often?

A 10 minute visit to this place would have you believe that 10 year old kids were running the football departments of every AFL club.

You only get one Dean Laidley in your life time.

Seeing as the poster you quoted has already used the phrases "West Coast will get what they're given" and "West Coast will accept x. Done", I don't think you need to explain the operation of the board to him. He's already completely au fait with how it works here :p

north have a great record of trading with the eagles.

Yep. Mark Hepburn absolutely caned it for you after leaving us.

Trent Nichols was very unlucky to miss the 96 flag side after we got him off you.

Dean Laidley played in the 96 flag side after we got him off you.

Ben McKinley cost us nothing.

So basically, you can join a few clubs in having taken advantage of the very brief period when a poor trading coach was in charge of us.

As a player, not a list manager you mean? :D

Dean is very good at his particular coaching strengths, but he's not much of a list manager. It needs to be remembered that he was running a football department that pretty much consisted of a set of dumbbells, a wheelie bin full of footballs and Neville Stibbard.

AFL clubs stole a march on us at the trading table in the early 2000's.

Still, he did get us in to two preliminary finals with bugger all resources at his disposal.

In return for pick 50.

Trent Nichols was very unlucky to miss the 96 flag side after we got him off you.
In the pre-season draft, not at the trade table. Couldn't get a game with us and we cut him loose.

Dean Laidley played in the 96 flag side after we got him off you.
For pick 8, Paul Symmons who played more games for us than Laidley did for you.

Ben McKinley cost us nothing.
And you got nothing:p

And having had a series of pretty fair trades otherwise.

This thread is getting a lot hits. Lots of opposition supporters insisting they want him but has little trade value :D
