Sad to see this guy leave because I had high hopes for him, he suffers badly from stage fright and everytime we gave him his chance to grab hold of a more permanent spot he just plain fluffed it. He lost me with an easy kick for goal when we were getting pumped in NAB cup final this year. Was his chance to stand up, he just doesn't have it to make the big time. Should of stayed with us and may never play another game in AFL again sadly.

It's no wonder he had stage fright, he's worried he'll look at Johnny the wrong way and be out of the side for 2 months, only to be brought back in for ONE game and tossed aside again! Meanwhile Swift, McGinnity etc are getting games.. o_O

Some players can walk in and perform from day 1, others need an extended run to feel a part of the side, and gel with teammates etc..

And everyone misses an easy shot on goal, (see Hill in final vs Adelaide) but shouldn't be hung for it.

I know Richmond won't trade Cocna but he is so vanilla. He reminds me of former Hawk Rick Ladson. A decent player who use his skill set as well as he can but that is where it ends.

Wonder whether the Hawks would be interested. A lot of there inside mids are aging and could be a relatively cheap way to add some depth to the list.

Swap for Savage.;)

Swift didn't get too many games this year either.

McGinnity got games as a defensive forward, not a mid. Stevens has been tried in the forward line without much success.

He played numerous games as a sub and couldn't impact the game. He routinely came off the ground with 2/3 possessions. He's a turtle on the field. Would have been a serious downgrade on our inside ball winners.

Surely he would only trade if he makes the best 22. He's right on the cusp at WC and he's leaving.

Geezus, having Savage in the eagles team playing on Subi every week would be an absolute weapon. He'd thrive over there.

He's definitely got the goods, just needs to edge up to that next level. Probably a preseason and some confidence away from it. At his best he's a super fast, hard running, goal kicking wingman. Other times you just don't see him (which might be Clarkson giving him defensive roles to round out his game.).

I certainly don't want him at West Coast. :)

I reckon he is a darn good young talent.

Players I'd be interested in acquiring in a trade with Stevens (with picks or pick up/downgrades to balance things out):

Sharrod Wellingham
Jeff Garlett
Mitch Duncan
Steven Motlop
Reece Conca
Tayte Pears (were Brown to leave)
Colin Sylvia

In terms of picks, anywhere between 25 and 35 would be satisfactory, with the better end possibly requiring a pick downgrade elsewhere and the lower end possibly requiring a pick upgrade elsewhere. Personally I'd prefer that we either trade Stevens for a player or trade him for a pick that we could on-trade for a player.

Mitch Duncan is required as is Motlop. Mitch is contracted and just extended his deal. He is very highly regarded by us so the price would be steep IF he was even considered.

Mots i think is up for contract extension but is still highly regarded by CS and Geelong.

Both these guys were major contributors for us this year and Stevens could not get on the park. Too big a difference between" what have you donr for us lately" to be apples for apples.

You will not get a player as such you have listed. You might get a pick - our 2nd - which is before 35 in rd 2. If you can get what you want elsewhere then so be it....

Go Catters

17 is currently wce pick. However not all compensation picks have been finalised to this pick could move back. Especially if goddard is on the move.

All depends on how the compensation picks can be used too. From memory, if you had for example a compensation pick straight after your first round pick from losing an uncontracted player to GC or GWS, it became an end of first round pick if you chose to activate it in the same year it was issued.

Ok

Stevens + WC first rounder for Bulldogs 1st rounder. Hopefully pick up Garlett with that 1st rounder

Bulldogs have picks 5 and 6. Doubt any Stevens trade will involve either of those picks.

Stevens to North Melbourne
Cam Pederson + 38 to Collingwood
Wellingham to WCE

WCE GAIN: Wellingham
WCE LOSE: Stevens + 38

NM GAIN: Stevens
NM LOSE: Pederson

COLL GAIN: Pederson +38
COLL LOSE: Wellingham

Don't like it.

North and WCE will be satisfied but not Pies.

Wellingham has more currency alone.
