on the west coast site john has addmitted a interest in koops, he also says our list is ok and only minor adjustments need to be made. sounds like a trade or two and rookie promotions , still i would like to see carrol , munro and morrison get the flick.

I agree, some minor adjustments and some injury luck for Gaspar is all we need - a good trade would be icing on the cake though.

As for getting the flick, what's Morrison done wrong? - well worth keeping as back pocket cover for Wirra I would have thought.
Carroll will probably get the benefit of the doubt seeing as how we are light on for KPP defenders - expect him to play WAFL all year though.
Munro is expendable.

what are our chances of getting Black from St. K.? with the dockers saying that they won't swap croad...how about a morisson+munro for Black?

I doubt St. Kilda would be happy with that.

They might like the salary cap relief - apparently Black is on around $400000,(mind you Morrison's on a fair package too)

hopefully none :)

as for Koops - very talented player, but I don't see what we'll gain by getting him.

We've got plenty of guys in the 186cm-190cm range in our team; Embley, Jones, Haynes, Hunter, Green and Judd........

The only ones that are as classy as him are Embers and Judd. And the only ones who play in defence are Hunter and Green. We saw how valuable are highly skilled player is in defence this year with Wirra. Koops on a half back flank would be great for our side.

from 1 jasonoz on kangaroos board

On a side note, listened to the radio this morning 6PR, and was said that the Eagles have made an offer of there 2nd round pick, number 29 for Koops, but Koops has told the Dockers he wants out of the West, and woulf prefer to play in Melbourne.

What do we make of that?

You seem to rate him fairly high, care to fill me in? Only Freo games I see are the Derby games, so I don't know much about their fringe players. Why has he been a fringe player?

I have a bit of time for Koops. Quick, very athletic, and a decent size- from memory, 187-188ish? Good tackler- could both provide attacking flair from our back half in a similar manner to Wirrpunda, but also play a more close checking role. iirc, his biggest failing in his career has been a lack of consistency, but that would hardly be a unique trait for one of the 'old' dockers. Think of him as a less talented, defensively minded Russell Robertsonish player.

He got injured, and failed to break back into the team- not surprising, considering that lot have a pretty decent back half- the likes of Hayden and Woods stayed in front of him. Really in the same situation as someone like Morrison for us (minus the knees), in that you'd still rate him as a decent player, just someone who hasn't been able to find his way back into the side.

If you saw the WAFL GF you would see why. He is probably a fringe player, because the talent in the back line at Freo is immense. Hayden, Woods, Haddrill, Polak, McPharlin. Hard to fit him into that backline.

Now you've done it ! Don't you know Dorkers fans will give you crap about that comment for as long as you live. :p

Oh, i don't know.. Given that backlines tend to have 6 players, I can see him fitting into that quite nicely :)

For those who didn't know, Steven Koops is the nephew of West Perth champion Bill Dempsey
And what a champion!

Now if we can only get some of Mel Whinnen's bloodline in there, we'll be right

I reckon we could pick up Whinnen and Demspey for a pretty late draft pick.

Brown a done deal for Tigers
17 October 2003 Herald Sun
Mark Stevens

NATHAN Brown is officially a Tiger after Richmond and the Bulldogs brokered a peace deal yesterday.

The Bulldogs are poised to gain draft pick six and Geelong ruckman Peter Street in return for the star forward.

Under the three-way deal, Tiger Ray Hall may be on his way to Geelong.

And in separate deal, the Dogs are set to snare Fremantle's Steven Koops in return for pick 19.

(shrug) If it happens, it happens. I wouldn't be prepared to give up pick 19 for Koops, so if the Bulldogs are, good luck to them.
