Schneider and Milne were atrocious-bad images of the GF kept coming back. Really except for Hayes, Fisher, Gilbert we had no one. We are mentally much weaker without Roo.

That hanger had about every saints fan in aisle 44 standing and applauding, before a few of us sat back down hoping like hell he'd kick it (which he didn't). So yeah, let's drop the man who finally finds some manner of spark to command the footy, would be a different story entirely if he slotted his shots but they only drifted very late as it was. And his banana on the rushed behind kick was sublime, saw that curve and it was very nice indeed. A few niggles he needs to work on but as I keep saying you do not drop key forwards like him lightly and no ones stated any particular ground breaking reason why he should be dropped.

After all, he was also released into thr ruck which helped Gardi clunk a few marks and goals. kicked 3.2 to Gardi's 3.1 and was directly responsible for 2 of them, either screening an opponent out of the contest or being in the ruck to let Gardi take the focus.

I'm with you, well said! :thumbsu:

Dawson cleared brothers.

How do you work out those gooses on the match review committee? Guilty, not guilty, seems to depend, like the handicapper, on where she is at during the monthly period cycle.
Just like last night I was beside myself with frustration at the game and not being able to get that 3 or 4 goal lead that would have finished off the Bombers, and the Handicapper just serenly went about her business as if the Dalhi Lama was watching the game. Where as normally I would have been fighting her, the TV, the commentators, the umpires, the footy gods, our players, their players. Just this seething mass of drivel jumping up and down from the couch. With her getting angrier and angrier, and then starting to chime in, "why do you talk to the TV?" or "you DOOOO know they can't hear you?", or "why do you follow StKilda if they cause you so much stress?" Which as you all could imagine does wonders for my state of serenity and lucid composure.
Now I have the answer. Don't invoke the match review committee's attention during the time my wife has PMT!........I just bloody wish I could keep tabs on it....would save me a lot of grief.
Lots of love and tender wishes my dear Sainters.....I think I have just come out of my own male PMT. xoxoxoxo

Thought Kosi played into some good form tonight. It wasn't just his goals, but the one's he contributed to, perhaps those at the game didn't get a full appreciation of his taps to advantage and body work.

Forgive my ignorance, but I find it a little odd when people say he is useless once he contest a mark and brings himself and the ball to ground.

I thought we had 3 crumbers to mop up the spills for that very reason, if it's rebounding out of there too quick, were are they?

2 goals from three crumbers, with an awful lot of opportunity IMO.
drop one crumber each week until they have ago, mini first up.

Wow how did Zac get off for that? Cant believe im dissapointed that one of our boys got away with something! Dont think Ross will drop him. He should be dropped for Stanley so Fisher can steady our very shakey defence full time. Kosi is slowly getting his form back but you can tell he is still off as somethimes they just slip right though his hands but it will come.

We have been up for a very long time now, we had to have a form slump sooner or later and Roey getting injured has triggered it, everyone seems out of form an confidence exept for Hayes who stands up week in week out. Going to learn alot from the boys and the coach as to how they get themselfs out of this. They did it midway through 2008 and they gotta do it again.

Oh dear.

Can you kindly explain what an easy contested mark is?

Kosi ain't Riewoldt. There is no other Riewoldt in the league (apart from Jack).

You say Stanley must be in better marking form than Kosi, when in reality your comment clearly indicates you have no idea of his form. Just because a player wasn't in the game last night, does not mean he would have done a better job.

Kosi has no confidence in taking marks? I saw a few plucked last night, that probably only 5 other blokes in the league could manage.

Kosi made something happen from nothing on a couple of attempts.

Typical pessimists like yourself though always blame the same players, even when they put in a good showing.

I'll just wait for your sack Lyon thread now. I'm sure "every" other Saints supporter is thinking the same.

I completely agree with you on everything (except for the Phoenix Suns thing.., hehe).

It's weird that, after some games in which we have been playing bad, and after 3 losses in 8 games, suddenly appear in this board people I hadn't seen posting ever before (or very very few times). Is it that some guys only post when we lose or when we're showing poor form? Or is it they just show they have poor form themselves?

Sigh, one thing is to constructuvely criticize, and another is to completely bag some players without much basis just for the sake of getting out your rage after having lost...

It's been a mere 8 games since you lost an epic GRANDFINAL after having had a truely extraordinary year! You've only lost 3 of those 8 games and more importantly will be thereabouts when it matters most, September!

St. Kilda are still a legitimate premiership threat, make no mistake! Sorry for the intrusion, just my 2c!

Does anyone apart from me think that we came flying out of the box last year, to fall a bit flat later in the season.
Then the pre-season this year started a few weeks later.

Could it be that the football department at StKilda noticed what happened last year, and are trying to manipulate things a bit more towards the later part of the season?

Or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

i reckon the saints haven't played to that high standard since the geelong game in round 14 last year (bar one or two games). we have won and lost a lot of close games since than and didn't even look that crash hot in the finals even know we almost won the flag (as silly as that sounds).

I think eveyone is underestimating the absence of Gram, he's been injured the last 2 games.

If we can get fully fit, Ive got no doubt we can win enough games to make the eight. Have faith in this coach, what he's done so far with the club has been outstanding. He'll work out this slump and the team will come out on top. Make no mistake the other teams in the 8 are going to be watching out for us in the finals, wheather we are in 8th spot or in 3rd.

And no way is Kos gonna get dropped and nor should he.

Interesting Peake is getting no love. I hear he won't adapt to the Saints footy mantra, which was well and truly back Sunday except for shit skills, so it looks like we burnt a draft pick recruiting him. Its a pity, he played well early doors. Now, knowing my luck they will pick him this weekend and I'll look like a dick!
As far as us being done, it's a long year ahead, lots to work on but I would rather it happen now than round 20.

Hey BS , If we win on Sunday, I would consider you looking like a dick to be acceptable collateral damage.:D

Only read the OP, but surely Peake isn't the answer, I'd rather see your mob use Schneider in that role, he looked really good doing it in the NAB Cup.

I like Heyne's debut, Stanley is probaly worth a shot and just tell him his KPI is tackles and pressures and surely he will go out there and get it done.

Kosi does feel like NDS did before Lyon dropped him and that worked wonders. Just let the guy know that he either has to mark the damn ball or do something when he doesn't. Right now he flys, then he either falls over and lays there or he stands and watches. Same as with Stanley if they play him, KPI needs to be tackles and pressure, not goals or marks. Pressuring and tackles was the foundation of the Saints last year. Right now it feels like Goddard, Gilbert, Tags and Hayes are basically the only guys still operating under that instruction.

kozi has been improving each week. if he gets better delivery he'll kick 4-5 this week. we need another forward option and better delivery.

problem is he is the only tall and is being double teamed (thats if the ball comes in ok). mcqualter is woefull and hasnt done any defencive work. bring in r clarke for mcqualter. when clarke was moved forward in the carlton game, he looked quite dangerous.

need another tall. i dont care who it is, just bring one in. fisher up forward is killing us down back. goddard hasnt been played as a traditional CHF, either play him that way or bring in another tall.
