Kosi - 1 week, cant be reduced with guilty plea.
Cougar - 2 weeks, reduced to 1 for good record.

Challenge Dawsons, not even worth a reprimand. He executed the perfect bump.

1 week each.
If Zac got suspended for what i think he did, absolute disgrace.

You mean when he ran into a Crows player, who had his back turned to him and was defending a mark that had just got called play on? There was no reason for the bump, your player was kicking it over his head anyway.

Fair result imo. Kozi could probably get off, although it looked clumsy.

Its ironic that Dawson got suspended because of Kosi getting flattend a few years ago.

Symes was turnnig away from the mark after teh ball was kicked and was not and should not of been expecting contact. A very low blow by Dawson IMO and deserved a week.

Kosis very unlucky though as not much in that.

I'm sure Kosi didn't mean any harm at all, it was just very clumsy

Unless he thinks he has real "Go Gadget" arms that extend to 2 metres, he was never a chance to spoil and should have been smarter

Dawson probably should have only got 1 week and then would have had it reduced to 0 weeks with an early plea. There really was no need to shepherd

How is Kosi's hand? Was he a chance to miss anyway?

Hmmm ...

Haven't seen a close up of where Kosi made contact (back or neck?), but was pretty aggressive and sloppy.

However, Zac's citing is a _ucking joke.

Nick Maxwell -> broken jaw -> 0 weeks

Jordan Lewis -> blatant strike -> 0 weeks

Trent West -> exactly the _ucking same on X -> 0 weeks

Simon Taylor -> off the ball bump -> cleared

Jarad Brennan -> head butt which drew blood -> 1 week

Paddy Ryder -> rough conduct for bump -> thrown out

Scarlett -> punches Kosi in the ribs even though the ball is 1.5m above his ribs -> not even mentioned

Ling -> striking -> reprimand

Here we go again AFL.

Is Andy McKay still that upset that his Blues can't break the hoodoo?

what a bloody joke Zac gets suspended for a shepard. McKay should *** off and concentrate on being a vet

Zac Dawson, St Kilda has been charged with a Level Two rough conduct offence against Brad Symes, Adelaide, during the second quarter of the Round 16 match between St Kilda and the Adelaide Crows, played at Docklands on Sunday July 19, 2009.

In summary, he can accept a one match sanction with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one- match sanction.

Justin Koschitzke, St Kilda has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Richard Douglas, Adelaide, during the third quarter of the Round 16 match between St Kilda and the Adelaide Crows, played at Docklands on Sunday July 19, 2009.

In summary, his previous poor record means that his one-match sanction must remain as a one-match sanction, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit point and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of two matches suspended in the last three years, increasing the penalty by 20 per cent to 150 points. He also has 54.69 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months increasing the penalty to a total of 204.69 points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 153.52 points and a one-match sanction.

How Cougar can get 2weeks for that when Maxwell can get off for breaking a guys jaw.. disgusted at the MRP

You cannot be serious.
Symes was bumped side on, on the shoulder, while it was play on, while the ball was in the area.
Tell me, where's the problem in that? That is a standard shepherd.

FFS all i want is consistency, Darren Glass laid the exact same bump on Westhoff, and it wasn't even looked at.

It seems the MRP's penchant for offering reprimands or throwing out cases doesn't apply when it comes to us.

Well, Lyon might be on record as saying we won't be resting players but we've had Ball and now Dawson and Kosi getting a weeks break. Maybe not the worst thing. However coming into a game against the Bulldogs who already have an extra 2 days break, it could be very costly.

When's the last time a St. Kilda player was looked at and actually got off? Doesn't happen very often!

So with Kosi missing a week does that mean Gwilt is a chance to come back in? I prefer Gardiner in the ruck than as a FF and Gwilt was playing pretty well before he got dropped.

OMG...i can't believe dawson has been offered 2 weeks for that bump.Thats ridiculous. All he did was shepherd with a bump.Thats a pisser...im still laughing.

Bring on the goose for his 100th i say!!

Watch netball, seriously, you'd love the contact rule.

Yeah, seems like we always get the rough end of the stick from the MRP. We never seem to get away with anything.

The Kosi one just looked like a clip around the ear to me, it was stupid but nothing malicious. Gerard Healy said at the time that it only deserved a fifty, which is what happened. Doesn't deserve a week but I guess it may not be a bad thing if it gives Kosi a chance to rest up and get his hand right.

The Zac Dawson one really is ridiculous. It just looked like a perfectly executed hip & shoulder to me, none of the commentators seemed to think there was anything wrong with it or indicated that it should even be looked at.

Probably should fight that one, I reckon. I mean if Dawson gets rubbed out for that and Jordan Lewis gets off for a deliberate punch then the system really is a farce.

I think it's worth fighting the Kosi one because if it pays off we get him in a crucial game, and if it doesn't then the extra week we lose him for is only against Sydney.

Can someone please explain the reckless bit to me.

If you kick sideways, it tends to mean you have played on.

If you play on, you are allowed to be smothered or tackled.

If a player is allowed to smother or tackle, he is allowed to be bumped in the side.

I can't remember anybody seeing any wrongdoing in Dawson's very similar bump in Rd 1 against Barry Hall.

I also can't remember anybody (commentators, BF posters, journalists) complaining since last night (to the Adelaide supporters - admit it, you're as surprised as we are).

This is one of the biggest problems of the AFL (in addition to constant fiddling with the rules and considering money as more important than a fair and success awarding competition).

The Masterchef Australia jury is more consistent and comprehensible than the AFL MRP.

Excellent call! Julie winning masterchef is the only bigger travisty than Zac getting suspended for a sheperd...
Fairly confident that you just shouldn't make any contact in our game anymore, disgraceful, i will be attending the VFL from now on, at least the celebrate the physical contest.

And nothing about Dangerfield headbutting Raph's shoulder??
I was thinking the same thing. Should get 3 weeks for that.

Kosi should take the week. It was pretty stupid and he will be out for a week anyway with his cut hand.

The Cougar one is ridiculous though. It was a fair bump. If you are on the mark, you are in direct contact with the play. If the umpire calls play on (which he did) then you should reasonably expect contact because if the player tries to run around you then you may get shepherded.

They are penalising Zac because the ball was kicked away. To say the man on the mark is not in the play is ridiculous in the extreme.

We have to appeal Cougar's suspension. The MRP seem determined to target our club for any minor indiscretion when other teams and players get off under the same circumstances.

Look, I think the actual rulings are pathetic, but I'm not that fussed. I think a young bloke like Zac could probably do well to have a rest for a week at this time of year, and this way we don't have to "drop" him, rest him, or make up some lame injury. And split webbing (or whatever it is) for Kosi is probably going to make him have a week off anyway.

Max comes in for Zac - I'm more than happy with that switch. Goose (hopefully) comes in for Kosi. My biggest concern is that they try to get Riewoldt to do it all himself for a week, which would be a really, really, really bad idea.
