BY ADAM O’BRIEN

ST KILDA fans will breathe a sigh of relief thanks to Justin Koschitzke being cleared of any wrong doing in his questionable tackle against Collingwood’s Shane Wakelin and will be free to play against Hawthorn this weekend, as reported on radio SEN.
The match review panel did not consider the tackle unreasonable in the circumstances, reasoning that Koschitzke laid the tackle and threw Wakelin to the ground in one motion and couldn’t have known that the ball was out-of-bounds prior to the tackle.
Koschitzke played a major role in St Kilda’s win over Collingwood with 17 disposals, 10 marks and 3 goals and gives St Kilda’s chances a major boost with his availability this weekend.

No other charges have been handed out by the match review panel regarding this past weekend’s games.

Fair enough I guess. He was obviously pretty frustrated at the time, probably because he was getting a bath from Wakes :) However, he probably didn't realise that Wakes had gotten rid of the ball, he doesn't strike me as a dirty player.

Good luck to the Saints next week.

Darren Milburn is scratching his head right now.
I knew some Geelong nuff nuff would come out with this.

The precedent remains the same. A tackle where the player is aware the ball has spilled and goes for a second motion to slam a player into the ground should expect to be cited and punished. A tackle where the player was unaware the ball had come clear and continues with a hard tackle as expected he would, will not be cited.

A certain free kick, but not a suspension for Kosi is perfectly reasonable and what should have been expected given recent precedent (Surjan's tackle on Harvey).

It's pretty simple.

The only difference between the Milburn and Kozi tackles were the players tackled.
One was a hardened 200 games + player who got up with no fuss, the other was a weedy, soft Tiger who needs to go around the block a few more times.

I knew a Richmond tool would respond.

How can you be certain that Milburn knew the ball was clear? You can't.

Good for him, I hate to see a player miss out on a final unless it's something pretty rough.

Seems like a good bloke as well.

The ump who pinged him should be rubbed out for stupidity,

Thought the umpire reported him more to prevent a reaction form the Collingwood players than anything - if it stops players remonstrating then report him by all means. Normally you'd just not write the report at the end of the game.

But, I agree with you, there was nothing in it.

This may be slightly off the topic ..... but as I watched Kosi get reported, it got me thinking about the rule that if a player gets reported it is automatically a 50m penalty to the other team. Is that a rule or did I dream that up because the umpires give it sometimes but not others. If someone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated
