It's threads like these that just make you sigh and shake the head.

Unfortunately, fantasy sports is largely responsible for many losing the ability to identify a good player from one that gets plenty of stats.

My advice is to actually watch a game rather than relying on the stats sheet to formulate your opinion of a player.

You are either seriously lacking an understanding of football, or your expectations are simply way too high. Either way, this is a terrible thread.

I love the little things that he does around the contest that seems to sometimes go unnoticed. I love the way that after a stoppage he contests the ball and sometimes even provides a block or makes room for Judd and Murph to clear the ball out of the pack.

I also love the way he tackles in close forcing the ball loose and the way he manages to stick a hand in and force an interception more often than not.

So do I.

I'd love it more if he managed to have an impact around the ground too. His work in close is brilliant but as a mobile ruckman he really should be linking up for marks and going forward to effect.

Wouldn't mind seeing him become a bit more aggressive and make his presence felt. But it's a bit harsh to compare Kreuzer to Cotchin they are both completely different players that play a completely different role.

Kreuzer can have a huge impact on games, he's done it a few times in the past; Port 2008, Sydney 2011, Pies 2012 and I'm sure there's more that slip my mind.

He just needs some game time to get some consistency but I have no doubt he will break through soon and if he plays well consistenty then we will be hard to stop.

We have made blunders in the past with our recruiting but picking up Kruze is not one of them.

Kreuzer is the smartest in tight player we have bar no one - with the best hands. People dont notice his in tight work because they dont expect to see it from a player of this size. Every game he gives off quite a few short quick passes to team mates from tight situations - to advantage. Has anyone ever seen him stopped or caught or tackled in rucks when he has ball? I havben't - he gets the ball away because he cant be tackled by a typical short arsed midfielder.

What he is developing now is a bullocking move forward through the center ability at rucks which sees opposition players bowled over and him crumbing loose balls as he moves forward. IF he wasn't doing the jumping - he would be a devestating first recieve option for us in tight - almost unplayable against.

When we figure out that Kreuz actually has the Speed and hands and brain to make him the big bodied midfielder we need - and play Warnock as the tap ruckman - we will have the first side that has successfully figured out how to play three talls.

As for Cotchin - please - would we swap him for Murphy or Gibbs? Apples with apples thanks - Kreuzer is like Nat at WC excvept with more size in body hence more versatile - a very unique tall athlete.

Look we all love him but statistically he has been poor since round 1 he needs to get more ball. His effort has been great his work around the packs great and his ruckwork in round 3 was great. However he needs to win more easy ball.

BEFORE YOU SCREAM YES I LOVE HIM, BUT HE IS NOT PLAYING ANYWHERE NEAR THE ELITE LEVEL I WAS HOPING HE WOULD BE.

At the moment he is a good player and Cotchin is a superstar, Kruz has the potential to be an elite player but he doesn't appear to be able to get easy kicks like dean cox whom I would hope he models his game on.

When I watch Kruz I always think with his mobility and ability he should be easily able to rack up 20 possesions, without checking the stats i don't think he has had 20 touches this year in a game.

The game against Sydney last year was the closest he has been to playing at the level I hoped.
Don't get defensive we all love Kruz but to be entirely honest he isn't reaching the heights we would of hoped.

Your comparison re Rich vs Yarran is meaningless as that was what some people were saying in year one but we are now in year 4 of the Kruz vs Cotchin comparison.

It is an interesting point wonder would we be a better side with Warnock and Cotchin in and Kruz out?

Yes I love Kruz and yes I would still pick him with our first pick and yes he is under achieving at this stage.
Silly comment the opening post is not saying that, but surely most would agree he isn't playing as well as we would of hoped. Don't forget his form pre the knee injury last year wasn't great.

At the moment he is a good solid AFL player with a great attitude however as mentioned given his ability it is frustrating he isn't dominating the competition.

Personally I think he will be the best ruckman in the AFL at some stage, and at the moment he is along way from that level.
Yep we all do as well.

Ideally he could compliment that with some more uncontested ball and maybe some more contested marks and then he will go from a good solid player to the elite ruckman we need to win the flag.
You can set a broken watch to your posts.

Nuff nuff.

It would be a challenge for any ruck to get into space with the way Essendon and Fremantle blocked up space against Carlton.

Even Judd couldn't break free.

Loved Kreuzer's effort to get it out of the pack by slapping it to Betts. Set up Garlett's snap from 50.

Kreuzer's second and third efforts are pron.
As for Cotchin - please - would we swap him for Murphy or Gibbs? Apples with apples thanks.
If we had drafted Cotchin, every BF poster and draft expert such as Emma Quayle would have flamed us for overlooking another big man.

Funny how Fyfe hasn't been as dominant as Talia.

Deledio, Martin, Cotchin and Conca v Gibbs, Murphy, Yarran and Lucas.

Think we're OK for young running players and mids.

Very strange thread. I actually thought Kruezer was outstanding against the purples. I think the issue here is that if you base performance by a quick lazy glance at some stats on the afl.com webpage, you really don't understand his impact. Have to watch the game to get a real understanding. Kruezer did countless things that didn't make it on the statisticians score sheets. Subtle blocks, clearing space, countless tap ons, smothers, smashing open packs, contest-after-contest he was relentless and impressive.
