I agree with you Ian.

What is baffling though, is the fact GWS look like they'll leave one or both Longer and Tomlinson to be taken by Brisbane at 8, and it seems there isn't a whole lot of interest in Kersten, hence I have him going to Fremantle at 16.

my mail is Tomlinson wont be left for the Lions to have a crack at

I think they will reach for talls (*), yes.

Right now, their "bigs" - 6 foot 4, more than 85 kilos - are

Forward : Folau, Cameron, Bruce

Ruck : Brogan, Giles, Phillips

Backs : Mohr, Davis, Hombsch, Seagrave

Thats pretty darn thin.

(*) The pun was unintentional. Really

and of that lot there is no way Bruce is ready for senior footy and I would argue Cameron is still best left behind the footy. He isnt ready to play key fwd. Cornes could play fwd though with Folau and Cameron as a third tall I guess.

Mohr, Davis and Hombsch will hold their own down back.

But your point is well made they cant leave Tomlinson to someone else - they have to take him and they probably need to take Setanta at some stage so he can be the punching bag up front.

Snoop Dog,

Thats everyone on the list who fits the cut-off of six four and 85 kilos.

Yeah, I'd take Setanta, and Bevan, and Ladson, if they are willing to play for not a lot over minimum wage next year, and no guarantees the year after.

The GWS midfield is playable as of now, and better once you add Coniglio and Tyson into it. But just about every mock on this board screams 'Moar Mids', like they havent gone 'Right. What does GWS' list look like'.

Then, when Brogan goes down, we're looking at Jonathon Giles, who was adequate in the SANFL, because it isnt like Brisbane need talls or anything.

Is Cornes not 6ft 4? Anyway yeah i am starting to think you are right re the fact Setanta etc will go as rookies as I hear they dont have a heap of money to pay them anyway.

Cornes is listed as 6'3 ... GWS frontloaded the absolute everything out of contracts this year, to clear space for a run at Pendles (etc) next year.

But yeah, the midfield is OK, but we need *size*.

Lions put out a bit of info that they were into Longer at 8 a week or 2 ago, IMO that is just to try and get GWS to take him at 7 so Tomlinson is available. I can't see the lions taking Longer, we have one of the best rucks in the comp atm and he's only 23, we need a back up ruck, it will be a few years till we need to use a high draft pick on a ruck. If Longer is as good as what I've read about him then in 3-4 years time he will be the no. 1 ruck at his club so if we drafted him then it would be too risky losing him in a few years time due to lack of opportunity. I've seen us linked with at least 3 rucks at 30 and 47.
