Im sorry have you ever played? He was playing loose - what kind of player playing loose doesnt get those numbers?

I can think of multiple occasions where he either didnt contest or screwed up under pressure.

I responded to them. My point is he panicked under pressure and at times didn't even try to contest.

He had 1 contested mark and 6 contested possessions. As a loose.

Did he perform it ?
Did he **** up repeatedly , dropping marks and missing targets ?
Did he read the play well enough to rebound repeatedly ?

He did his job and he did it better than most of his team mates

I didnt say he did anything wrong when he was playing loose. But he panicked under pressure and on at least 3 occasions just off fhe top of my head he was one of the crows who stood around looking at each other as a melbourne player took a mark.


He had a very average game. He got okay numbers because he was playing loose. You wouldnt expext anything less. When the going got tough he looked out of his depth and unsure.

....i dont think its that special that a guy who played without an opponent got a bunch of uncontested possessions. Thats just doing the bare minimum for playing that role.

I wouldnt celebrate it. Id say you had an ok game.

Go and compare Cheney last night to Doedee vs Richmond. Doedee laid tackles, Cheney did not. Doedee was all over the contested ball and showed was outstanding intercept play was. Cheney did ok, nothing more.

Cheney was okay but I think he struggles when outside his comfort zone. We are going to have to create some space on the list for some young talent. I'd offer him a rookie spot similar to what we did with Ellis-Yollman.
