Only to make his way back home in 5 or 6 years time.

It’s not a bad model when you put it that way ;)
Hah yeah maybe but majority of them don't come back. They just haven't ever really gone out of their way to select Falcons unless they're already there at the picks they have. Don't expect them to start now for a kid who has missed so much footy

I thought he was going to be good! Looked like he was going to be good. Is he still going to be good!?

He will be good. I rate him quite highly and stick to that. Has literally had zero pre seasons.... Has been injured in every single one he has had and is yet to build a conditioning base.

Give him a big pre season and i expect him to be best 22 next year.

Future second or 30 would be my guess. I reckon if it gets you Bruhn you’ll trade up, whether it be with us or the Bombers.

Would be no reason at all for us to throw in fogarty when 15 and 20 gets it done on its own ( pick 8). He is worth something to us and we would prefer to keep him. Makes no sense us throwing him out for 50 cents in the garage sale when we prefer to keep him. Would need to be traded for actual value

Henry would be a better fit anyway. We have enough inside types
Depends a bit though. Constable is looking more like a miss lately, Narkle actively seeking a trade, Fogarty might be headed to the blues.

Outside of Parfitt who would be the next youngest contested mid we could rely on? Are we counting on Sam Simpson or Cooper Stephens? Guthrie probably the next youngest at 29 years old.

Meanwhile Henry as a medium tall forward would be a 4th marking target after Hawk/Cameron with Sav a resting ruck being needed with Blitz in the backline. We also have a few who may be behind Henry in terms of quality but them being available means the marginal value added would be less than picking up a kid who fits a position we're likely about to get shown up for depth in.

For me considering Constable/Fog/Narkle are probably out it's a mid, if there's a decent 195+ KPD then it's them as a hendo replacement.

There seems to be legitimately no interest in constable... The thoughts and opinions of geelong seem to be mirrored across the competition. Especially with reduced list sizes i doubt anyone is keen to bite. Narkle similar.

Would be happy to move narkle and constable and focus on giving more games to fogarty stephens and clark as a priority for games.

Correct. Though I think only Stephens and Fogarty are potentially capable contested ball winners but Fogarty possibly asking for a trade and Stephens hasn't played a game.

Wonder if we would offer a contract to Luke Partington if it came to it

What do you think Fogarty is worth? If 15 + 20 gets 8, would 15 + 20 + Fogarty get 8 + 30? I’m not sure if he’s worth much more than 30 at this stage.

Given that we had a really good run with injuries this year and he still played a 3rd of the season the coaching group would probably be taking a hit of a 8-12 game gap where we would have to cover his absence.

Losing him wouldn't be worth a pick 30. I expect that if he's deadset leaving and going to cause cultural issues over it then congratulations he's your problem. If not they'll hold him to his contract even if it means losing value on him next year.

It's weird, your recruitment team never seem to nail their first pick, but get a lot of hits later in the draft.
Yeah. We have missed a few, and some have had terrible injuries - Menzel, Cockatoo.

Our first round picks are usually mid teens, so its a bit more hit and miss in that area.

Wells has also had some beauties as round one picks over his time -Joel Corey, Andrew Mackie, Joel Selwood, Jimmy Bartel, Harry Taylor, Varcoe, Cam Guthrie, - its not all doom and gloom on our first rounders.

I do agree with your point about our depth. Was an advantage we had over alot of other teams that we batted deep into our list for players to come in and play a role.

If you are to be a premiership team you need player number 18-22 in your team to be either a seasoned reliable contributors with a specific role aka josh hunt or wojinski, or you need A grade talent in their first year. It gets difficult to carry players who are first couple of seasons that are future C graders... And challenge for a flag. Which we did for a while with the likes of parsons pang smedts and it hurt us come finals.

Summary we either need seasoned contributors for our bottom couple or elite kids. Nothing in between or they can wait and develop in the reserves.

If he wants to leave i am sure we would take that. Id rather he stays thought as he is a quality kid. You can have constable or narkle instead!!

Issue is like i said before he has literally had no pre season yet, and you know how that affects young players not getting that conditioning.

I gather there are two reason here carlton are interested in him

1. They think he has upside and a big ceiling compared to what he has produduced thus far and can get alot more out of him.
2. With his injury history and form they probably believe they can get him for a packet of pringles ontop of it.

Wonder what carlton would do if geelong did request a future second pick for example.

Good luck to fog hope he does well and gets games to see what he can really do, and about right the price the blues paid.
