Last year I think Collingwood made a terrible error in not picking up Steven King.

He would have been great support to Josh but also important to the development of Cam Wood.

I don't know if he's retiring but Brendan Lade showed two weeks ago against Collingwood he's still got some footy left in his old body.

Could be a handy pick up for a year if he decides to play on.

What do you guys think?

I think Port will keep him for another year, depending on what they do with pick 3 or 4 depending on today's game.

He might have helped mentor Wood, but Steven King has been very ordinary himself this year.

As for Lade, I'd pass. It's essential that Wood knows that he'll be a big part of our 22 next year - he's very much a confidence player.

the idea has some merit.
trade fraser for a second rounder and ruck with wood and lade with bryan in reserve . develop keefe and thoolen and whichever ruckman we draft this year in the vfl.

IT's essential that Wood knows that if he continues to play with a total lack of physical presence then he will not have a very long AFL career

Its a good idea and id certainly be for it.

Nah, no point in picking up a guy for a season to the detriment of a 20yr old we paid a first round pick for.

Year poor thing a whole year and haven't been lade.

Oh well.....

Tess, I admit I was being puerile, juvenile & even infantile.

At least it was a joke that made sense.

Your response however.....................

Lade would be akin to Everitt going to Sydney. Both great ruckmen, but time is slowly eating away at Lade, to the point, that another 6 months to round 1, things may have completely passed him by.

But I'd like to know if any other clubs (AFL or State League) have a 21-24 yo ruckmen that might still be a chance. Maybe just a late developer.
Something like a Jolly or Hudson before they went to Sydney or the Crows, rather than a 31yo

Most ideas have merit...it is the reality the cruel's them.

And where is this fabled draftable ruckman?
