I hope it's just a hyper extension

Same here. All true footy fans (except maybe Geelong's at the time) would've felt a pang of dread on watching that. Singularly rare superstars like Franklin are worth every cent the game is capable of paying them.

Not surprised. Our injuries are cruelling and seem to hit our most valuable players.

If it's ACL, he'll never be the same again.

Yeah he will, medicine and rehab has come along in leaps and bounds. He will be back slotting goals from Buddy's pocket before you know it.;):thumbsu:

Judging by the sound of the crowd, or lack there of, I think they were devastated as well.

I seriously hope he hasn't done his ACL.

Whilst I have no love for the Hawks, the last thing I want to see is the games greatest showman down with injury...... terrible bloody news.

Its one of the really horrible injuries because the game was almost effectively done and like the Crameri incident and others they still get injured because no matter what the score they still go flat out for their team regardless of the score.

As much as I love watching Buddy stuff up shots at goal, give away frees and the like, it's out of jealousy and this injury is bad for the game. Hopefully we are all overeacting and he's just hyper extended it.

:thumbsu: Absolutely agree heard Crameri's shoulder go going as hard as ever even when out of the game same with Buddy. Both guys tonight deserve to have a good recovery and be back in the game as soon as possible. Crameri too.

If it can make him sort his goal kicking from directly in front, then it would lessen the pain slightly :(

Apart from the few in the block I was in that cheered when he went down.
Surprised that none of the Cat supporters in my vivinity clapped him off either.

If he never comes back the same player because of this... it could be a tragedy compared to Coleman injuring his knee.

Buddy is the reason I watch footy, same for many others. I want him to kick 1000 goals, let it be only a PCL please!

He's such a freak of a player, im hoping to god its only a hyper extention

As well as Menzal going down, im actually more guttered two players having possibly career threatening injuries rather then losing:thumbsd:

career threatening? strong dramatization. Once Franklin recovers from his injury he'll be back playing footy for the next decade. Menzel has already established himself within the Geelong group and considering 1/4 of the cats players are around 30 he'll defs be part of the future for them.

Glad you can look on the bright side!

It's seriously a crap situation though, no worse feeling than when a superstar from you club goes down with an injury that looks like it'll have them sidelined for a significant stretch.

Was bad enough when Lenny's knee went in round two, I'd hate to know what it'd feel like in the first week of a Finals series (touch wood).

You could just feel the crowd gasp when Franklin was on the ground. Took me 3-4 secs to see him rolling on the ground behind the action clearly in pain. When they showed the replay from ground level and the knee buckle - it was like OMG :(

No-one likes to see injuries like this to any player, and added with Menzel injury makes it bit of bleak nite.

Hope both players come back stronger and fitter asap.

sometimes those hyper extended knees can just cause ligament stretching and it's a 4-6 week injury. Otherwise Buddy is out for all of next year.

I'm inclined to think the same thing. Buddy has a bit of history of being a drama queen. Wouldn't be at all surprised if this is just a hyper-extension. Still doesn't help our chances in '11 though.

They said on 7 the doctors where hopeful that it was only bruised bones.

It was around the time they where interviewing Hodge. It could be about a 4 week injury.

Now that I think about it, Burgoynes knee troubles were from a hyper extension, it dragged on and on, he didn't play for 12 weeks with us and STILL had a limited pre-season with his first season at the hawks. Scary stuff.

One of the worst stories of 2011 should it be an ACL for Buddy.

got a physio friend of mine who said that Menzel definitely did his ACL. Shocking news to such a promising young player.

The game sucks some times.
