Is this intentional on the part of the FTP? I recall they came over for the tri-series in 2007/8, after their own bilateral, then a few games before the Ashes in 2010/11, again for the tri last summer and another bilateral now. They head to NZ in 2014/15 before the WC I believe, for tests and ODIs.

Top preparation for CWC 2015, gotta say. :thumbsu:

Yeah, I noticed that too. Probably a combinations of factors:
-SL don't play a lot of 'big' (4-5) test series that England/India/SAf/Windies do, so have more time in the year
-SL are half decent at ODIs, so CA probably see them as providing at least a decent contest and there is a fairly large SL population in Melbourne / Sydney, so there will be at least half decent crowds at most games
-SL isn't too far away, in terms of flying times
-The current crop of SL players probably like touring here because of the crowds/facilities/contest
-The SL board probably get a decent payout

All these factors probably lead to CA just inviting SL over when they need a 'filler' team for some ODIs for the summer calendar

I'm a bit tired of them but they are a team I enjoy watching. Malinga, Kulasekera, Herath, Sangakarra and Mahela (when in form) are all good to watch in different ways. I won't mind if I never have to see Dilshan hacking anymore though.

Dilshan in full flight is so good to watch, makes the way he's playing right now so damn frustrating.

Sri Lanka aren't a bad team to watch but it gets a big boring to play them in ODIs anyway.
Possibly part of the reason people are getting tired of the format is because we play the same team every year.

It's not like they're the Windies of the 80s.

In terms of "excitability" when they come over, I'd ranked the ODI teams as follows:

1. Pakistan
2. South Africa
3. West Indies
4. Sri Lanka
5. England
6. India
7. New Zealand

Fair call? :D

England and New Zealand get moved up due to rivalry.

I'm tipping a change to the future tours programme and Cricket Australia to schedule a one-day series next year before the ashes with four teams, featuring Australia, Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka A and Sri Lankan Board President's XI.

Well that would be a fair, even series I would've thought.

sri Lanka hate to say it are the only team that brings the crowds out

India? England?

Sick of Sri Lanka in tests maybe but I think some of this board are sick of losing ODIS. I like the contest. After watching the back and forth ping pong all throughout this week it's made me appreciate cricket in any form all that more.

Windies all the way for me but I am biased.

Gayle, Sameuls (not playing replace by Sarwan) Bravo, Pollard, Russell, Narine

I am kind of sick of seeing them play the ODI's but if they have the crowds at the Melbourne and Sydney matches then it is no real problem, at least people are there. When was the last time NZ came over for ODI's, don't mind watching us play the Kiwi's (at full strength).

But we're consistently getting poor ODI crowds over the last few years.

I meant at least Sri Lankans have a good following (mainly Melbourne and Sydney), I would say that the ODI crowds there would be far higher for the Sri Lankan matches than when the Windies play there later.

If I had to pick an ODI to go to it would no doubt be vs South Africa, then probably India/ West Indies.

If the Kiwis get their shit together surely they have to be thought of as one of the more entertaining ODI sides. They just beat South Africa (who had a few out too) with a few decent players out.
