Really poor second half defensive performance.

They scored every meaningful possession. And we didn’t.

Their secondary was putrid and couldn’t be taken advantage of. Some genuine scrubs on the field and we scored 10 points.

We only had the ball 3 times in the 2nd half so saying "we only scored 10 points" isn't an indictment on the offense.

This defense is embarrassing. I would.go as far to say it's as bad as it has been in the last decade.

The offense is fine right now. It will be better next year but even just with a competent defense right now, this team would.be playoff bound.

How is Clelin travelling? I have not been paying particular attention to him, but have seen a lot more stuff from Maxx in general pressure etc. Have we done it again with our first rounder or is he just needing more time? Looking at some of the picks after us, say at MLB, have we cocked it?

Not sure we've screwed it up yet. Coaches still are very confident Clelin will come round. That being said, it hasn't helped that he lost 15 pounds from a virus before the Chicago game. has put the weight back on but that really sets you back for the season. He is a smart player but he really lacks the strength at this point to be a true bull rusher. Crosby is by far the better player at this point.

Spoke too late, just read Williams has been traded;

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Jets have agreed to trade Williams to the Giants for a 2020 third-round pick and a 2021 fifth-round pick. The fifth-round pick will become a fourth-rounder if the Giants extend Williams’s contract and the Jets are paying $4 million of the $6 million left on his deal.

Watched the game again. Hard to see how we lost it.

Andre James did very well especially considering he went undrafted coz he was said to not be strong enough and had slow feet. Center suits him better than T.

Prove them wrong #68,

Verdict
James has the frame to potentially play in the NFL, but he will need to work on improving his athleticism while also adding weight, which could prove difficult. At just 22 years old he has time to develop further, but due to lacking both size and athleticism, is likely to be both outmatched and overpowered by many NFL defensive linemen. He has both a natural fluidity in his movement and demonstrates the explosiveness displayed in his vertical and broad jump at the combine. However, his footwork needs improvement, and his change of direction is at times painful.

Fit With Raiders
James seems a long shot to make the roster at this point, but with the competition at left guard wide open, and plenty of time between now and training camp, anything is possible. He plays a position at which the Raiders have a need, and college teammate Kolton Miller showed significant improvement in technique between the draft and the opening of training camp, so the question becomes how much time and effort James will put into addressing his areas of need between now and late July.

Also signed center Erik Magnuson who returns to the Bay Area, where he got his NFL start with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 after signing as an undrafted free agent. While the 6-foot-6, 300 pounds Magnuson played Tackle in college, he’s played all three interior offensive line positions in the NFL, bringing enough versatility to play all 5 OL spots in case of emergency.

There is no timetable available just yet on Hudson’s potential return, but his injury didn’t look very minor. While he won’t be placed on injured reserve, the fact that he couldn’t put any weight on his right leg on his way to the locker room seems inauspicious.

I assume that means Hudson is out for a bit. Any word?

Top 10 2019 rookie classes: By Chris Wesseling Around the NFL Writer

2 Oakland Raiders

While the two edge rushers sandwiching Clelin Ferrell at the top of the draft (Nick Bosa and Josh Allen) have combined for 14 sacks, the No. 4 overall pick has been outplayed by fourth-rounder Maxx Crosby, a defensive end ticketed for multiple Pro Bowls in the future, according to CBS analyst Tony Romo. That tandem forms the nucleus of a young Oakland defense, along with punishing safety Johnathan Abram, who knocked himself out of action for six months with a torn rotator cuff sustained in the season opener. Now that Gareon Conley has been shipped to Houston, the Raiders will see what they have in second-round cornerback Trayvon Mullen as the starter opposite Daryl Worley.
The showpiece of Mike Mayock's sterling rookie class, Josh Jacobs became the first running back since LaDainian Tomlinson (2001) to gain at least 100 yards from scrimmage and rush for a pair of touchdowns in his NFL debut. It was Jacobs' performance versus the Packers in Week 7 that caught my eye. After trucking safety Adrian Amos on one early run and stiff-arming his way to a 42-yard gain on another, the former Alabama star flashed a series of sharp switchbacks like a seasoned mountain hiker on a 27-yard scamper late in the third quarter. He's been the tone-setter on a surprisingly effective offense that also features rookie slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, tight end Foster Moreau and fullback Alec Ingold.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford showed up sick and hoarse in the locker room Wednesday, but he had a full practice and didn’t seem concerned about the effects of his illness ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Oakland Raiders.
“I think it’ll be fine by Sunday,” he said.

Stafford was listed with just a hip injury in the daily practice report. He said he was able to overcome his hoarseness on the field.
“I was full go, so it was fine,” he said. “We made it work.”
Stafford said he dealt with hoarseness in a 2014 game against the Carolina Panthers, and the remedy was simple: Yell louder.

wait til he gets to sunny Cali and all the wildfire smoke.

The AFC as a whole is a wreck. Oakland may have a losing record, but it is still in the playoff hunt. There are only six teams with winning records in the conference. So, the Raiders aren’t out of the race in the slightest.
The biggest reason, though, for the Raiders to be hopeful for the rest of the season is that it has a very favorable remaining schedule. Five of Oakland’s nine final games are at home, including the next three games. Also, the Raiders’ final nine opponents have a combined winning percentage of .364, which is the third lowest in the NFL.

Nothing is official until the team confirms the transaction, but it seems likely that Terrell McClain will be donning the silver and black soon. He is a nine-year NFL veteran and has played for eight teams in that time. He most notably spent three years in Dallas to play with the Cowboys and started 15 games for them in 2016. He’s started a combined 34 games and has accumulated 7.5 sacks over his career. If the Raiders did sign him, it would appear the team is trying to add veterans for the late-season charge.

Big home game coming up. Need to get some Offensive action going

Despite being a playoff contender, the Lions currently have one of the worst defense in the NFL. The team allows over 420 yards per game, ranking 31st in the league in that category. On the other hand, the Raiders have been easily moving the ball against much better defenses.
The Lions allow over 130 rushing yards per game, meaning Josh Jacobs should have another monster game. The Raiders held back on using Jacobs too much last week, but assuming he is back healthy again, expect the Raiders to feed him all game.
The Lions also have the worst passing defense in the NFL, allowing over 289 passing yards per game. Derek Carr has played lights out lately, so expect a big game for this offense overall.

Third down defence is abysmal.

And don’t get me started on Joyner.
